[Strategy] $1000 in budget. What would you do?

Hi,

I wanted to create a thread like this for a while, to talk about more realistic strategies than the usual "$2000/month without any investment".

Let say you have $1000 in budget, no list, and you can afford to work on your project full-time.

What would you do with this budget?

Go!

PS: This is a pure-strategy post, Play the game and respect the scenario

Edit: This is not a post about advices on what I should do. It's a game, it's about what you would do

With $1000 in hand, and no list, I would be inclined towards purchasing sites/domains at the price of 4 month's net revenue and keep optimizing/marketing them via fiverr gigs and online paid tools.

Like Alissa, I would also advise you to spend the rest of the money on alcohol, drugs minus the boys.

Pay someone $1000 to create 100 pages of content for your website. This is of course if you know what you are doing and why.
Or create the content yourself and invest the money in stock market or commodities.

If you asked this question last week I would suggest to invest in silver below $28 per ounce. if you asked 3 months ago I would suggest to invest in First Solar shares when they were at $15 each. Today they are $23. With 1:10 leverage you could have bought 500 shares for €600 and you would have made €3100 profit.

I suggested this investment in this thread in May 2012.

Right now I would invest into Sugar at $20 or Coffee at $158

First I would go and buy a plr product that has resale right that comes with at least 50 pages of content, maybe 10 dollars, has a proffesional landing page and customize the pay button with my own paypal button to profit right away.
I will sell the book for 10 dollars

Second I would buy a domain name $10 and choose a dot com

Third, install landing page on your home page index.html

Fourth, go to fiverr and pay someone 5 dollars to make you a nice flyer for your product

Fifth, go to office depot and buy 1000 colorbright sheets and 1 bag of rubber bands and a stapler. Total cost 40 dollars

Sixth, (this is free and great exercise), go to several apartments and hang it in door knobs.

Seventh, keep an eye on your paypal account and watch the money come in instantly.

Eighth, reinvest that money and just buy more paper, staples, and rubber bands. Get walking and hanging flyers again.

Total cost $65 dollars. Oh wait I still have 935 dollars left. Reward yourself and go get a few lap dances. kidding, lol

That is what makes a successful marketer, keep failing over and over, and this is what makes you succeed. You wouldn't buy it, for every 1 person that says no, there are 2 more that say yes I will buy!

If your mentality is I am wasting paper, money and time and no one will buy, then you are not cut off for offline marketing. Most of the competition is online, you are competing with millions, you have to invest in ppc, seo, articles, and then you have to settle for long tail keywords and excruciating keyword research.

Here is a great article that will help those who are struggling:
Psychological Sales Triggers - Sales Triggers That Make People Buy

You don't need a list, or build a relationship. I know that is what all of us are thought at the beggining through here or some internet course we purchased and I am not saying it doesn't work. But at the same time people are scare of trying a new method because it didn't work for them the first time.

I have purchased so many things before from flyers because it caught my attention somehow. Maybe it attack a problem I had and the flyer had the solution. Maybe my neighbor doesn't have the same problem.

So yes you might get some turn downs, but I would suggest going to Barnes & Noble or any other bookstory and buy a few books on psychological triggers and studied this tactics to put together a great flyer that will have the solution to a person's problem. That is when someone buy.

Here is another great thread for you
Don't Sell Your Services; That's Not What People Buy

I am happy everyone stays with online marketing because it leaves alot of customers for me offline and I don't need seo or ppc for them to see my ad.

Think about this for a moment, if flyers did not work, why are there so many people using this method?

Many businesses make alot of money and have happy clients because of flyers distribution. The point is, studied really hard what makes someone a buyer, and make your flyer design based on what you learned from this books and you will see succeed. I am sure that there are quite a few people in here making a killing with this, but they stay quite because if everyone knows about this, then this field will get very saturated and you will see so many internet marketers in the streets instead of being sitting all day in warrior forum, lol.

Hey look at it this way, at least you are exercising and making some sales!
          Is a win win situation!

      $1000?

      I would:

      Online:

      Register a domain name: [$10]
      Buy 3 months hosting: [$30]
      Join the Warrior Forum [$37]
      Create a product [Free]
Upload as a $7 WSO [$40 to post]
      Build list via WSO [Free]
Do an AdSwap to grow list [Free]
Buy Warrior Forum Banner Ad [$100]

      Rinse and Repeat.

      Offline:

Register a domain name for portfolio [$10]
Take $50 and make tons of cold calls to sell web design/seo/graphics/copywriting/powerpoint/web re-design/consulting/facebook management/twitter management/[insert your skill]

Repeat for a week. This should garner a few deals.

      Total Outlay: About $283

This is what I would do. But it all depends on your skills.

This is two projects i am doing/carrying out planning for at the min.
which startup is roughly around $1000

        product
currenlty located a source for a product which as a user of a simliar product i can only see the market getting bigger and bigger. With something like this i want in now!
sales will be online and offline.

what the 1000 will be spent on
        1. offline advertisment for agents to sell product its something no one is currently doing and although profits per item will be less i will sell a considerable lot more.
        2. website setup etc still outlining online statergy to be honest i like to take my time and ensure i have everything planned.
        3. shipping costs to supplier worked with this guy before he is happy for me to pay at the end of each month but we have a agreement that shipping cost are up front.
most of my time is customer base at the min (offline) and deciding on a seo statergy or if to go ppc
so to summarise find a product and the most important part find a long lasting market.

        website
I think the future web will be user created even more than it is now i am testing the waters with something.

what the 1000 will be spent on
coding and nothing else apart from domain registration.
This will only get me a beta site and still involves a lot of coding work from myself.

most of my time on this project is coding or putting together a social stratergy. There will be no keyword this site aims to rank.

It all depends on your knowledge. If you know every aspect of online marketing including website values and potential I wouldn't start from scratch. I would look up markets im interested in, checkout the second or third page of Google and find a site that isn't "conversion optimized" and email that webmaster asking if they would be interested in selling their website.

If so ask for a report of the sales and offer 6-8 times revenue, if the site is ugly it'll probably be under $1,000 and touching it up and ranking it better will be a cake walk.

    Hi,

This is not a post about what I should do. I'm not asking for advices
It's a post about what you would do, what would be your strategy in that case.

    Why this case?
Because $1000 in budget is not that hard to get.
Because working full time on your project is an ideal situation.
Because not having a list is the case for most marketers.

This is a post about strategy, like a game, not an advice request

There are so many of these "What would you do if you had XXXX to invest" threads.
I think (opinion) not many are going to answer the way you intended...

    What would I do with a $1,000

    1) Buy a better split-testing software program (Hypertracker $179.40 or Split-test accelerator $591)
    2) Setup a continuity program as an upsell to my initial offer
    3) Setup a bunch of Joint Ventures with 5-10 list owners
    3) Have those JV's send traffic to my offer
    4) Optimize my offer and upsell as much as possible using the split-testing software

This would all be with the goal of getting as much of that traffic onto a continuity program and to make that initial $1,000 back as quick as possible.
Then I would have my $1,000 back and monthly cashflow from my new continuity members.
