I personally do not sit through such videos. However, this is just my preference. There are thousands of folks out there who are willing to do so in order learn something new. Thus there is a target market for this.

In my opinion, coming from a multimedia perspective, those type of videos are dated. They represent a PowerPoint slide presentation that would have been shown back in 1990 when Microsoft launched the software. Today is 2012 and therefore there's no excuse to insert text into a white background and call it a video.

It is even more insulting that in the IM niche to date, this type of video today is still part of a paid membership.

Wow me with at least 80% of moving visual content (and that does not mean stock photos of a guy holding a phone). Show me charts that are relevant, numbers, pretty girls dancing, anything...

Hope you keep this in mind for when you create your videos.

It definitely depends on the content and the quality of the presentation.

Some things are better in a book. Some thing do work much better in video.

I hate the videos of text scrolling by, even more so if someone is on the video reading it word for word. If you want me to read text, give me a PDF and let me read at my own speed. My time is too valuable to be forced to read at someone else's speed. If you are going to do the voice over with text, at least use PowerPoint slides with bullet points and explain each in your own words.

Video are great if the are direct and to the point. I hate long rambling videos....or text for that matter.

I greatly dislike most webinars. Everyone seems to be using them for everything these days. Firstly, most are just really long sales pitches, which annoys me, unless I am really interested in the topic. Some people use them for training, which drags it out, and makes it less focused. There seems to be a need to be social on them (Type in where you are from, type in if you like making money, type in if your answer to this question, etc...), or answering tons of questions from people that clearly have not been paying attention, and going through remedial explanations of everything. This can turn 30 minutes of information into a 2 or 3 hour webinar.

By the way, this is not about the content format, but if you do training, try to separate the remedial explanations from the real content. If someone does not know how to save a file to a folder on their computer, or do basic navigation in wordpress, or use FTP, then they need some basic tutorials about how to do those things. Make them separate, and don't bog down the real training with that stuff.

For either audio, or video, the speaker needs to be able to express themselves well, and be focused. Some people are not cut out to do that, and should simply not use those methods.

Yes, options are good. And SOOOO EASY to provide.
