Sorry to sound ignorant, but what is meant by "syndication"? I see people on here mention posting content and offering it to their syndicators, but what is this and how are they "recruited"?

It is basically when you offer content from your website that is already ranked in the search engines to other website owners/marketers. You either offer this content to people you consider of value or throw it up on ezine style websites and hope they link back.

Broadly speaking, it refers to the re-publication of content/articles (ideally originally published and indexed on your own site) by people who have targeted traffic which you'd like to attract to your site. So we're talking about ezine and newsletter publishers, webmasters of appropriate niche sites (and some offline publishers, too). People/places with continual requirements for "content" for their readers, visitors, subscribers, and so on.

It's a way of attracting floods of higher quality, well targeted traffic without depending on SEO. (It often has huge SEO benefits too, but that isn't the primary aim).
