Unusual Adsense Question

Just out of curiosity, and I am NOT implying I have done this or even want to do this, but what is to stop people from asking people to go to their site and clicking on their adsense ads?

Nothing. It happens all the time. Although, people will tell you that "Google TOS which promises to ban you from the Adsense program" is what will stop you.

But, like anything, that can't stop people. It can only deter them.

There is rumored to be a rather large industry of "work from home" people spread out through places like India, Phillipines who are outsourced to do the very thing you mention -- sit at home for hours and click on ads.

So now, someone will tell you that Google, etc, have protections built in such as IP detection so that if your ads are clicked on by the same IP, too much, it sends up a red flag, and so on. But these people will then rotate IP addresses, OR, be doing this for multiple accounts so that, for example, 100 people will have 100 different websites with ads to click.. that way the same IP address never clicks on the same site more than once or twice.

Not only that, but some of them will also offer services where, for a fee, they will click on your competitors Adwords in order to waste their money. I don't know how you could verify this, though. But, either way, it's insidious - and a costly cat-and-mouse game.

But my suggestion to you is to keep this a matter of mere curiousity and don't ever do it. Places like Google are awake and working/watching 24/7. One might outsmart them for today but the odds are they will eventually be caught.

    Best regards,
    Eric

      Hi,

There's also another aspect - your renumeration is directly related to the actions carried out on the site that you click through to.

Therefore, unless the clicker carries out the desired action on the 'other end', you get a crap pay rate. Most of the time, the desired action is making a purchase/opting in...etc

It's google's job to ensure that adwords advertisers get value for money. So simply 'clicking the ads' isn't going to earn much money for the adsense publisher.
