Why you should NOT do business on Facebook

Millions of people are trying to do business on fascebook but little do they realize that there is a danger on there it...

Today I went into it on my lunch break. I thought it was odd looking. My pictures and everything were there, but I didn't see my friends. Why? THEY WERE DELETED.

That's right. Deleted. Second time this year. 3 times I have had to start my account again from scratch. My friends think I am doing it myself andd I am not.

I had my security set to the maximum and even notifications that I had to set permissions on my cell phone when someone logged in from an unauthorized device. NO notification. So eveidently I have been hacked.

There is no way to contact facebook. They take your money for games, apps but are to frickiin cheap *******s to have live customer support, even in live chat. No wonder there stock is tanking.

So if you want to save your sanity, don't do business with facebook. I will be off of it and basically not go basck on there anymore! Just a warning. I did leave on the homepage a notice that whoever did it, I will hunt them down and make them sorry!

I did get a notice from FB once where the IP came from. I called comcast and they politely told me they would send a note to the person to stop. The FBI saiid they don't arrest people for that!

  • If you're doing business on Facebook, you sure as heck should not be doing it on your personal page!

Set up a fan page for your company/website instead. That's what Facebook made fan pages for.

I can understand that you must be pretty frustrated,
    by your experience..

I'm not a fan basing my business model around
sites like facebook or google etc..

I want keep my business separate from them as it
seems whenever they want they can make changes
that can have a serious impact on your results..

That is why earlier this year i stopped doing SEO
altogether, to focus on building a list..

    All the best..

you people are missing the point.

I am not doing business on facebook. Im just warning you what can happen when a company has no security and no way to contact them.

I don't even want to do business with them because I would lose it altogther--been there as I created a second account for business. Had 100 people on my fan page and someone hacked that, changed the email and then destroyed the page.

So just listen. Make sure that you have some backuip if you are doing business with them. So I will be sending letters to my 41 friends and ask them to call me personally and maybe ask them to go on google just to chat.

I am sorry for your lose. Losing account will make everybody mad.
But, I am far away for thinking to broke-up with facebook.
Losing account is everywhere, not only on FB.
I mean, people make money using facebook.
The ad is great for CPA if you know how to use it, its not a secret.
Yes they are not buyer, their freebie searcher and thats how we make money with CPA.

FB is money on the table. Why leave it there.

Get other social networking accounts and tie them together. Its would take no time to build an account back up.

Sorry to hear the account lose. Keep at it and it will be all good.

I posted something on FaceBook tonight!

It took me a whole 15 minutes to figure out where my post ended up. They don't tend to consider simplicity in any way shape or form.

Certainly isn't one for me, but each to their own and all that!

no my friends did not unfriend me. I found them..they were blocked. While I was logged in trying to get them back, my password was changed 3 times and my security settingns hanged to allow it.

So what I am getting at is this if you do business with them then you should expect changes.
      abou
and to firstsocialapss--what about the people who are paying for the stuff on games or people who pay for ads? Should they not have a phone number? Too. Im thinking of violating their terms of service and creating a second account...business name only and see what happens..I think I know the hacker though..the IP information I got back, said it was where in my town...maybe my ex..LOL!

I think rather than having the attitude that you
won't do any business on Facebook it makes more
sense to think of Facebook as an external site you
        have no control over.

So sure use Facebook but have your on website
and your own email list and other marketing methods
you control and use Facebook as one of the strategies
you use to drive prospects and clients into a system
        that you have control over.

Having ONLY facebook as your only online presence is
        craziness.

        Kindest regards,
        Andrew Cavanagh

Social networking sites are like playgrounds for hackers. It's a big game for them. The sites themselves don't offer much in the way of protection but they do warn you to do as much as you can yourself.

My account on Twitter was hacked recently. Whoever did it started spamming lots of twitter users with weird and nasty messages, pictures and videos. I lost a bunch of followers. I did a search on twitter hackers and was freakin' amazed at how common it is. It's common for most of the social network sites. I'm not defending them but it would be impossible for them to police it the way they should.

What I did learn was some security stuff you can do. The first thing is to make an ironclad password. It's gotta be long with symbols, caps, lower case characters and numbers. That alone will stop most of the crap. But there's other stuff as well. The second best way to fight it is to not enable auto-login from other accounts. I did both of those things and haven't had a problem since. Fingers crossed.

I'm sorry to hear about losing your account. But did you ever think that someone you know maybe doing this since it happened to many times already? Just a thought.. Anyways i hope you'd be able to find or create a new way to build your business aside from facebook.

I know it's tangential to your point, but I *do* do business on Facebook and get great results. I advertise my websites directly on Facebook Ads, no fan pages or groups or anything like that. I target very specific groups of people that would have use for the various products I sell, and get pretty amazing conversion rates.

Hmm IDK about this post. I dont see why you should avoid Facebook. I dont think its strange that they dont have a customer service number .. they are a free service .. your ranting about that a company that gives there product away for free (Facebooks 1 product, as far as users are concerned, is Facebook itself) does not have customer service that is up to your standards. Really should the have a call center for so the 900 million non paying free users can call them? Yep they should pay 5000 people to run that call center to talk to those free users. Come on man.

I agree with you completely on this point. Unfortunately, it's almost as hard for a paying advertiser to contact anyone at FB, which I find extremely annoying. (Google gives far better services to its advertisers, and it says a lot about Facebook's attention to quality that they don't have a similar level of service.)

That doesn't stop me from having a fan page for my company and buying a few PPC ads from them. But I still don't approve of the way they're doing business right now.

You should consider creating a dedicated FAN PAGE for F/B my friend!

I have done this and found that my traffic and likes, comments, shares etc is growing everyday.

You only have to put in around 30 - 45 minutes a day.

    Post engaging content, pictures etc.

Stuff that gets passed around like wildfire.

You will soon see that FaceBook is well worth a small time everyday invested.

Hope this helps anyone who is thinking about setting up their own Fan Page.

    All the best to
    everyone here at the W.F.!!!!
