How Often Do You Check Your E-mail?

I'm just curious on this one, because I find it's a complete nightmare to get a hold of most people.

I normally check mine probably who knows how many times every single day. I just would think IMers and work from home individuals would check it at least once a day.

For me, it takes several days to a week to hear back from most of the people I get in contact with. What about you?

My e-mail client is usually always open but I prioritise what comes in.

If its communication about a current project/something I'm focused on that will get a quick response than anything else.

Most IM'ers are very busy and more often than not biting off more than they can chew so while I reply to nearly every e-mail within a few days, I don't rush to do it.

I guess I've just been unlucky then. For the most part, it takes a long time for me to get a response back from most people.

I check mine on the go on my smart phone such that whenever I get a new email i receive it on my cell phone when am not on my computer. Overall I check my email several times during the day.
I am an IMer and I have to sift through 50 to 80 emails per day and as such sometimes I may not go through email I personally consider not important to me and as such I might respond to such email 1 or 2 days after it has arrived in my inbox.
From my own point of view, I check email regularly based on how important the email is to me.

Are we misreading your post? Are you really saying..."I keep emailing web marketers but why don't they don't respond to me?"

My first response to you is "because emails from people we don't know throwing joint venture offers at is every other day are easily ignored.

It's not that we don't check our emails frequently, it's that we are very quick at selecting emails to read and ignoring the other 95% within miliseconds.

I checked my e-mail several times per day. But as you mentioned I am also a Internet marketer so that means I probably check my e-mail way more often than most people do. Plus I also check my e-mail to see if I have any orders pending on gig sites that I work on. I would say that if someone is not checking their e-mail and getting back to you then they probably are not a Internet marketer kind of person like we are. Otherwise they would see their e-mails every day for sure unless your e-mails are going to the spam folder.

When I turn on my computer my email is open.
Right before I shut off my computer it's still open, I close it and shutdown.
Some emails I also have bounce over to my cell.

When I go live with my sites the first few days I will let all sales bounce to the phone, after everything goes as planned I will stop the bounce to the phone.

I also make sure all server related emails bounce to my cell.

Aim to everything done that is most important to your business first.

Then go through your Emails by looking at the most urgent ones first.

This works for me but it can be very tempting to open the ones that may state you've just made a sale etc.

All the best everyone and have a great day!!!

People are not made for multitasking. I used to check my e-mails every 10 minutes!I couldn't get any work done.

Now i check my e-mails every 1 hour. If i find something that will take me out off my work for a while(a funny e-mail perhaps), i put it in a folder named "To Check Later" so it will not distract me from what i am doing at the time

I try to check my emails two or three times a day. But it is not frequent enough because I
have 6 email accounts. I have joined several ad sites and have opted-in to be on the lists of many marketers.to get free traffic and also keep myself updated of the latest
developments in the IM world. The downside is I get a lot of promos sent to me.

I know I will not be able to read all my emails especially those in my list mail
addresses but I can live with that because once in a while I have found some
good info or offer - something which I would have missed if I had stopped my
    subscriptions.

I will usually arrange for the non-promo mails to be sent to my newer addresses so
that they will not be missed.

I enjoy the best of both worlds since I get free advertising and free traffic and also some
great up to date info and offers without worrying too much about being 'bombarded' by
    promo emails.

If the people you contact are taking forever to get back to you, then their ethical business practices in regards to PR need much improvement. Anyone who does not contact me within a 48 hr period losses out on their opportunity with me. Plain and simple.

I myself, don't much approve of that feeling like being a "second thought" to people whom I'm trying to do business with (and many times IMer's are unfortunately & unknowingly, guilty of this). If they don't treat me as being important enough for a business relationship, I look at it as being their loss. PR and business relationships are vitally important if you want a successful online business.

If they are so uncaring about getting back to you, then what is THEIR business REALLY like? I'm not intentionally offending anyone here, but in all honesty - there are those types out there in cyberspace. Plus - you have to take a good hard look at your own email, especially the subject lines.

What wording are you using in your subject lines? A lot of times, people who send out an email to someone, have a subject line that may look like it's spam (and I am certainly not implying you do this), which means it won't even get opened and it gets deleted immediately. So the senders "subject line" must be worded properly in order to expect a reply. So it really is a matter of both sides stopping and looking at what everything really reads and implies.

I check my email twice a day, but I always keep my email opened while working in other tabbed windows so if I do get any messages from those who are important - I can then answer them within a few minutes to a couple of hours. It all depends on what I'm in the middle of doing, say for example, creating a video.

But in any case - I always keep my email opened from the time I get up until I go to bed. Sometimes I go off and eat diner and when I'm done, I check my email and answer them accordingly if there are any important ones there.

I have students who are always emailing me asking questions and I found keeping my email accounts opened at all times, helps with them not having that "nightmare" feeling of waiting forever to get a response. They love it because I answer within a reasonable amount of time and I truly believe every IMer or work from home individual should practice this as well. It does wonders for your business ethics.

Interesting point raised here though. How about those people who need to check emails for important work?

I guess for some they need to leave the email window open and check immediately when there is a new message. But off work, that's the time you have to avoid it or else you will still be thinking about work.

I check my email when I have been alerted that a new email has arrived. This can occur in my Chrome browser or on my mobile phone. Whenever an email is received I get a notice. This way I eliminate senselessly checking my email seeing if someone has responded and am only in there when I get a notification that a new email has arrived.
