what do SEO companies for offline businesses do?

and how do they have to meet the client in real like or can they do it through the internet.

the only SEO i know is things like email marketing and article marketing and keyword research, i don't think that's always useful for offline businesses so what do they offer?

    It really depends. I do SEO for offline businesses and what they require depends on if the are a very local business such as a dentist where they may just want a presence on Google Places, Yell.com etc. Or if the have many branches and can take orders Nationwide or Worldwide they could want a full blown SEO service which would include everything you would do if you are trying to rank any other websites keywords.

    A lot of offline businesses can use mini-sites with a targeted domain name and keywords to drive traffic to their hub site. This often actually works for offline businesses because they can target the keyword by location or specific service.

    offline businesses have online presence: website, so seo will rank their sites for certain keywords, drive traffic, spread the word, google places etc....
