I'm Flattered but a Little Ticked Off

Hello,

I just found my ebook course on three torrent sites. I am flattered by the positive comments by the people ripping me off. But irritated that it is number four in the search engines!

What should I do?

Thanks!

PS. Maybe I can use the comments as testimonials.

Best you can do is password protect it. The people that want really badly to rip off your stuff will always find a way to.

This is one downside to digital products, but yes... use the testimonials. Sorry about that.

Perhaps you should have put a copyright on it before it went live. Although a little "free" advertising isn't so bad............ just how far is it going to spread

If a search result violates your copyright Google will remove it from their listings. You will need to fill out the appropriate forms and submit it to them.

Make sure you're in the right legally, but that is the process.

If you constantly find your products being put up on the torrent sites, beat them to the punch. Post your own product on them before anyone else does. But upload a special version heavy with affiliate links and backend offers, or even an upgrade to a premium version of the product being pirated. At the very least you won't feel quite so much at their mercy and you may even get some sales.

This is exactly what I do with every new CD release from our studio. I also have to say that since we've adopted this policy our sales "in store" have increased, as has the number of visitors to the artist's websites.

This is one thing about torrents, initially you feel like you've been raped but it can really be a marketing positive. I'm not sure how my technique would apply to an information product, but where music is concerned, beating the knuckleheads to the punch is nothing but smart.

Here's what you should do... exploit this free viral traffic.

It sounds from your description that your product is worth sharing, so if I were you, I would re-write your ebook course and add a bunch of relevant affiliate links.

Next, put a high ticket price point on it, like $997, then somehow, (I'll leave that up to you to be creative) leak your $997 product on the torrent sites... people love to steal/share valuable products.

    Just a thought...
