Hi,

I had have a website/blog for about three months. A person interested in advertising on my site contacted me and asked about my rates but this is a first for me and I am not sure where to start price-wise. My site is updated daily and currently gets about 10,000 views a month. What is the going rate and what would be fair? Any suggestions? What would your rates be if you were me?

    • You could pay on a quality basis.

Meaning - each time your advertiser gets an ad click you could charge him .50 for example.

Your focus should be this when approaching this:

Can I make this advertiser more money than he's paying me?
Where can i put his ad - so that it will be most effective and profitable.
(that way he will continue to spend money with me)

What software can I use to keep accurate results and data of the effectiveness of his ad?

What suggestions, tips and tools can I give him to succeed?
(so that you can keep making money with him)

      Cheers,

      Justin
  • It can range from $25 - $100 per month. But $100 is a little high but if its an exact niche match - you may get it. Also, the going market rate is what you can negotiate
  • Don't state the price first!! You've got the cards in your hands! If he contacted you, that means he needs you. Make him do the first offer. Don't do it yourself!
  • Take a look at Buy Ads | BuySellAds

You can see exactly what over 2000 sites are charging, and how much traffic they have.

Most sites with that little traffic ask $10-25 per month. It's just not enough traffic to generate many clicks for the advertiser, so they can't ask for much more unless it's an extremely targeted, valuable niche.

Let's say you asked for $100 and the ad's CTR was 0.5%. That's $2 per click. They might be willing to pay $2 per click for people actively searching Google for what they offer; is a click from someone casually reading a blog worth that much?
