Is this a good price for articles?

Hey guys...

I've been making pretty good money with my PLR article site. My niche has always been home based business articles. However, lately I've been getting a lot of requests for articles in other niches so I think I'm going to start doing some freelance writing outside of the websites.

Do you think 100 articles written specifically for you in whatever niche you want would sell for $100?

I'm thinking $1 an article for a niche that I'd have to research and work a little harder on is a fair price.

So what do you all think? Would you pay $100 for 100 articles that were handwritten just for you? Or do you think that's too high or too low?

Thank you so much

I'm assuming that you mean PLR articles right? Parts of your post make it seem like you will write original articles for just one person for only $1, which is way too cheap.

If you are talking about PLR articles, it tends to be more standard to group articles in a smaller batch, say 10 for $10. 100 articles at $100 seems a bit of a risk to the buyer. What if they aren't satisfied?

    Love,
    Shannon

Nowadays I seldom buy PLR articles. There are quite a few free membership websites which offer PLR artilcles free.

For articles submission I will get it from the articles directories and sometime free PLR articles and have it re-write through elance.

ouch. How many hours in the day? I like them already rewritten and unique.

OP, surprised you can get that much for them - as he says above, here's 150k plrticles for a flat fee... when wrangled, they're as effective as totally new content, in my experience.

          • Thanks for the feedback guys.

I wasn't actually talking about PLR articles. Although I know that can be confusing since I call my self the "PLR Article Queen"

I was actually talking about writing articles just for 1 person not PLR in this case.

            So would you say...

25 for $50 would be a better size and amount? Or should I still do less?

            Thanks everyone for the responses.

Hi, I would hire you right now for the 100 for a 100 if you can write reasonably well. The problem I am seeing with many of the article writers on WF -and this is no offense to them - is that they are not native speakers of English. As such, their choice of words and sentence construction are sometimes out in left field. I need articles, I just don't have time to rewrite them all right now.

If you decide what you are going to do, please PM me.

As much as I'd love for you to write original articles for me at $1-$2 a pop, I think you are way undervaluing yourself.

People who can hardly write english charge more then that. From your posts we can see you're clearly a capable writer.

              ...charge more

Honestly, my husband tells me I charge too little all time time and so have a lot of people online. I guess it's just that though I'm obviously not new to writing I AM new to writing for internet marketers and I want people to feel they're getting a lot of value out of working with me.

I am going to work on pricing a bit higher though because article writing really is a lot of work.

I would actually still charge more - you are still doing all the work. You are still writng original material off your research.

In this case if you are a really good writer $10-15 a pop.

If you are looking to give them a deal - $8 -$9 each

Awesome question it goes to show that you are serious about what you would like to do on the internet, i take my hat off to you because i feel that you really want to make a go of this and do it properly.

So i suggest that if you want to do this properly i would not sell it in a bulk pack of 100 i would break it down into smaller packs of 10 to 20 articles per pack and charge a little bit extra per article, perhaps a dollar or two because it all adds up.

That way you have an instant back end products that are tightly targeted towards the people that have already bought your first package of articles.

I hope that makes sense i've had way too many beers tonight!LOL

I agree with the advice to break it down into smaller packages. If I go looking for PLR to use in any given campaign of mine, I wouldn't want to go and spend for 100 articles in one shot.

Besides, bulk usually reduces the perceived quality of your PLR articles so people may not think it is worth shelling out $1 per article if they see that you've packaged all 100 articles together even despite the fact that you state 'handwritten just for you'. Packaging premium $1 articles into packs of 25 seems about right. In fact, if your work is really really good, you could even charge a bit more higher than that with some proper positioning.

"Handwritten?" If you are seriously going to write them out on paper and ...fax them to clients or postal mail them, don't know internet marketers who would want that. Too much work on the receiving end at any price....

Typed via a keyboard, now today's outsource "human" writers produce content that way, like you're doing here (unless you are using a type of voice recognition software; i.e. not using content rewrite software) so may want to rephrase your info to help it be updated for today's buyers, my 2.5 centavos today

Good Lord! How much were you thinking about?! A buck an article?! Where do you live, India?!!!

Please don't do that. I hope you are not of the mindset that the lower your prices, the more work you'll get! Writing at such a low rate only helps to reduce the income of all article writers and you'll be pounding the keys for less and less. Your time is valuable. You can always make more money but you can't make more time!

If you produce a quality product, don't be afraid to charge a quality price.

I pay for quality. I paid Hey Sal $50 for five articles and was very satisfied with her work. When I need more articles, guess who I get in touch with first?

And here's something else to consider. You can price yourself out of business by going too low. When I see someone offering to do something for such a low price I either assume they are from India (I see from your avatar you probably aren't, if that's really you, and I have no reason to believe it is not you) or I assume they crank out junk.

Sorry, I hate buying anything from India and I don't buy junk. I buy quality and am willing to pay for it. Simple as that.

Please raise your prices in accordance with the quality of your work (unless you really are trying to create a customer database of broke marketers.)

      B) Sorry, just a question. I'm new at this.

    Brittany,
For what it's worth you should be charging no less then $7 or $8 per unique article and ideally if you could move that amount towards $10 or higher then even better.

As word about the quality of your writing spreads around the forum you will find plenty of article marketers willing to spend more money for quality content.

If you concerned with wanting to make sure you provide value at a good price then perhaps you could offer prospective buyers a discount of they lock in a standing order.

For example, let's assume you normally charge $10 an article but if someone is willing to lock in something like 30 to 50 articles a month for 6 months then you lower price to $8.50 an article. This ensures you have work during slow periods and keeps your customer committed to ordering more articles from you on a regular basis.

    Respectfully,
    Tim

Sometimes it may also depend on the article you want to create for your product.$1 is a nice start for the buyer and freelance writer but is much good to give bonuses for great writers.

I think $1 a pop is way too cheap. How many words per article? The guy whom I outsource my articles charge me $10 for a 400-500 word. It's well-written and well-researched.

I think you're undervaluing yourself. Why not increase the rate?

As much as I would like to take advantage of you and get articles at the cheap rate you asked about I have to agree, $1 is too low. If you were going to offer that rate I would consider it more of a loss leader kind of venture.

I would suggest if you want to try $1 or even $2 you should limit the number of articles to 10, and call it a new customer special. Market that rate as a rate people can use to test your service and let them know after they purchase that future purchases will be $10 per article or whatever price point you decide on.

This gets your work in front of a lot of people and develops some relationships with customer who could become long term. Then as soon as you have as much work as you want, take the special offer off the table.

all you have to do is go to sites like elance and you can see what the market will bear. so that you know PLR articles are not original content articles which is what i think you are offering to do, and if so $1.00 is a very low price indeed.

For long time customers, it's good to offer a discount. It keeps them happy and coming for more.

On your PLR, it's too low if you ask me.It'll take you hours and hours of writing before you hit 1 grand.

How long does it take you to write an article and how many words are these articles. If you're writing 500 word articles and it takes you 30-40 minutes to write an article that you're only charging $1 for, then I'd say, that's slave labor. (excuse the pun)

You wouldn't want to work yourself to the bone would you? That's no good. Most people looking for that amount of articles in a particular niche would probably purchase high quality PLR.

The norm for people looking for article writers is to buy a pack of 10 articles for $10-$30.

I'm glad you asked the forum first before you went gun-ho writing your batooky off. Now, I'd suggest to sit back and evaluate your business plan a bit more carefully and think about what's going to be the most effective approach that will benefit you and your pocket book.

WOW - $1 an article. I'd order a few hundred here and now!
But that really is too low for unique, quality content.
If your willing to write bulk orders, you can give the buyer a price break.
But you still have to price your work right or you'll burn out quickly with
little to show for all your effort.

You are undervaluing yourself and other writers at those prices. I pay more than $10 per article and on principle I would only pay a good writer less than that if it was an introductory offer. Everybody is entitled to earn a reasonable amount for time spent and that includes writers.
