Don't Make the Mistake of Using Different Fonts in the Same Page...

I see a lot of people making the mistake of using different fonts in the same page. (I was doing the same mistake recently).

Having different fonts in the same page creates a 'ransom note effect' and is not comfortable for the reader's eyes.

I learned it from useit.com (The guru of web usability)

Kind of depends on how people are doing it. For example, sometimes it's effective to use a different font for headlines or even navigation menus to make them stand out a bit. But it helps if the fonts "match" -- meaning they look nice alongside one another.

In other words, it's not necessarily a mistake to use different fonts. Sometimes it's a savvy move.

I don't see a problem with it if you want to emphasize something. But like all good things and all good tools, if you overdo it, then it becomes a problem.
