every list has an expiry -true?

Just came across this thought,your list has an expiry date.
Someone who opted in to loose weight might give up or become successful after a while..someone from IM got well versed with everything..people who signed up for dating got married,etc.

thoughts?

    Good point.

    I highly doubt that the entire list will die if you're providing valuable info,maintain consistency & expectations.
    Just focus on quality traffic & content, and you should do well.

      Yes and no.

      Yes, people either succeed or fail and drop out eventually.

      No, if you have a strong relationship with your list where they have developed a bond with your brand and trust you, they will stick around for a long time.

      I have a lot of people on my list because I actually do real behind the scenes type of reviews of the products I promote.

      Care about the people in your list and they will care about what you have to say for a long time to come.

    Some marketers would doubtless then promote those agencies through which married people can have discreet affairs.

    With weight loss, taking the long-term overall view, epidemiologists do say that fewer than 1% of people actually manage to lose the weight and keep it off permanently (and quite a few of those have had bariatric surgery).

    I suspect "gambling niche" lists don't have much of an expiry?

    I can' agree with this, there are people who will unsubscribe and stop opening up your emails, but if you continue to build your email list and do a really good job of providing value and build relationship that list will last forever.

    I have a list that I started building 5 years ago and I still get 60% open rates from it.

        In some niches, the typical subscriber lifecycle is short
        whilst in others the lifecycle can be measured in years.

          If you are providing only newbie info to your list, then yes, it does have an expiry date. But if you are providing valuable info, then newbies and pros will enjoy your list. Also other pros will join just to see how you're doing everything and what could they copy

    I wouldn't say that your list has an expiry date. What I would say is that yes some people will unsubscribe after a certain period of time.

    However, your list will be there for as long as you continue to provide a solution that people are looking for.

    And there will always be people looking for solutions to their problems.

    I wouldn't necessarily say expiry date. But I know that I have people who are more responsive than others.
