Best Way To Get A Phone Number For My Business?

Hi Warriors,

I am basically looking for the best solution to set up a business phone number for my business that will operate internationally.

Is the best solution Skype, Grasshopper or something similar?

Cheers,
Kenneth

P.S. - Also forgot to add I don't want to use my personal mobile or home number. So I need a solution that is strictly business.

I use Twilio and OpenVBX. I can do anything in OpenVBX (set up any funnels I want!) and Twilio is quite cheap. Plus they offer transcriptions for voicemail which is a huge time saver.

I tested out Twilio awhile back and would definitely recommend them!

I would either use Google Voice or Skype for a plain business line. RingCentral is my favorite toll-free number provider.

    Hi Guys,

    Thanks for the replies.

Is it correct that if I use Skype to get my business number then I will be able to use my Smartphone to accept calls in addition to accepting calls on my computer?

    Cheers,
    Kenneth

Yes, you can forward calls from your skype number to your cell phone.

BTW, with RingCentral you can actually have multiple calls simultaneously rang while your customer is on hold. You also have the option to have numbers rang in a sequential order. Very cool features!

I agree with Twilio and OpenVBX. So easy to provision extra numbers if you need to from the simple interface.

course I got my feet wet in the direct mail hey day, but I personally (if cashflow wasn't an issue) would opt for one of the many lead capture phone systems.

You can set up different extensions to track your ads, cards and such.

They usually have killer caller ID, so you can develop a phone follow up in your business (not to mention be able to reverse the number and get the address. so you could send a thank you postcard or somethin and freak em out - in a good way)

On top of that, some of them will give you the power to set up automatic fax backs for B2B. Or voice boxes to have automated pre-sales before you talk to them on the phone.

Some even have the fringe benefit of digitally recording messages left, that you could then post on web pages (um....need some testimonials?)

All that backed by a 800 series phone number.

If anybodies interested. i could do a quick google. but if you put in "call capture" "800 lead capture". stuff like that. you should be able to find some.

they are used a lot by the high volume real estate professionals.

    POWERFUL STUFF

for outbound though..... Id have to agree with skype, however, I just heard recently the microsoft bought skype. Hopefully they wont muck it up.

In order to make a global presence you can use VOIP based PBX business Phones. With Cloud based business PBX phones you get all the advanced calling features like call conferencing, call forwarding, call Blast, Direct Inward Dialing, Interactive voice Response etc along with the basic PBX benefits. You can explore other Hosted PBX providers as well other than Skype or grasshopper for a more reasonable deal. Moreover the PBX provider will provide you a PBX number so that you do not have to use your personal numbers, rather you can take the calls on your cell phone etc, if you wish to while maintaining the secrecy about your personal contact details. The caller can never know where the call is being received.

Hi Kenneth, I use skype which has been fantastic for an international business. It is probably the most widely accepted and can be forwarded to any phone you desire. If you are in the united states or the UK google voice is free.
