Ads surf daily founder sentenced to 6.5 years in prison

A few years back I came out against a Ponzi Scheme called "Ads Surf Daily" and was flamed by many warriors who were involved in it when I told them that it was just a matter of time before the SEC froze it and the Feds raided it which is exactly what happened.

Well the owner was just sentenced to 78 months in prison:

Will those who aided and abetted him be thrown in prison too? Good first step in cleaning up IM scams.

In the case of Ponzi schemes its usually top promoters and founders that risk jail time. However, anyone who profited from a ponzi is financially liable and the SEC can come knocking to get the fraudulently obtained profits back.

I don't understand how so many people can fall for schemes like that...

That's a hefty sentence for someone who is 77. Oddly, the Zeek Rewards owner was also elderly.

Sadly... people who start these don't likely start out thinking "I am going to build a ponzi scheme and defraud people." But greed blinds them and then in the case of BOTH Ads Surf Daily and Zeek Rewards there were lawyers who willingly took these guys on as clients and helped them deceive themselves that the ponzi was legitimate.

Any thoughts about the lawyer's involvement with these Ponzi schemes Brian?

    I remember that thread.

There were lots of people upset at you (and me and many others) telling them it was a Ponzi. Hundreds of them as I recall.

Maybe they will be more careful in the future.

      Sadly they probably wont.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Nah, they'll just be lined up in the next Ponzi scheme.

I think their upset because they get told what they don't want to hear. Then they just get madder at the SEC for freezing it.

God knows that goes through their minds.

One of the reasons I like to read Josh's stuff, is he is always speaking out about doing the right, ethical, moral thing. He has given this forum many wise warnings over the years.

He warned us about buying graphics packages only to find out later they were stolen (I posted that same warning this morning based on a post years ago from Josh about this).

He may not be a lawyer or a scholar but he has good common sense knowledge about copyright, patents, and trademark issues and tries to help in this area.

He did (not just once) warn about Ponzi schemes. That topic seems to always bring out the most bitter and angry posts on both sides. Not sure why we haven't seen many lately - maybe everyone has gone to jail and so they aren't starting new ones.

I don't know Josh personally but I do like his style at least in the realm of these kinds of warnings.

      Thanks Josh.

        I don't disagree.

I guess I just have a little too much free time on my hands today for joking around.

Sadly... I've posted many many many anti ponzi threads over the years and experienced just that many times. The good news... People don't seem to flame you as much any more. The bad news... Ponzi schemes are more popular than ever.

That's just one of the many scammers in IM. There are more that I've seen now out there on multiple forums than ever before.

How difficult is it for newbies like me to pick the genuine from the scams on Warrior?

    Thanks

Wow, I've never heard of ads surf daily, but "125 percent on each dollar paid into ASD" is kinda fishy, don't you think? It's a telltale sign for a ponzi / pyramid scheme.
