Keyword Density ?? Still a factor ??

I'm aiming my site at right around 4-6% keyword density... and it reads PERFECT!!!

Will I have any problem with Google?? I mean, it doesn't sound spammy AT ALL....

Should I aim at 2-3% ?? or should I go higher???

I would say 4-6% is pretty good, assuming that a majority of the keywords aren't overloaded in any headings.

"Still a factor?" No, only for longtail keywords which only need a mention or two of they kw anyway.

In fact, some sites that promote their brand and products very well don't even need a mention of a kw on their sites... anywhere. This is the way Google is moving as well, so keep that in mind if you are thinking about doing anything that takes any time with kw density.

Generally, if you have to think about how many...it doesn't sound right...or sounds to stressed. Put them in so that it gets the point across but doesn't look like it's deliberate.

It really depends on the content and the context in which you are using the keywords, as well as the relevance of the keywords to your website and your niche.

I believe around 1-2% is best right now. EzineArticles requires that you keep it at 1-2% and they are excellent when it comes to Google rankings...

    Best,

    THANKS!!

I think the best approach is to try and forget about "having to get the keyword in the article." Write with a heart for the audience. look to provide value and you can always go back later to make sure that you got the keyword in at least a few times per 100 words.

I don't think it matters too much anymore - the other factors in SEO are simply outranking the KW density factor.

For instance, take a look at the #1 web page for this search term...

how to get rid of my heartburn - Google Search

...and on page 1 and 2 of MSN and Yahoo respectively:

    http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=...h&fr=yfp-t-501

    http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q...t=11&FORM=PERE

You'll notice that the that phrase isn't even on the page! So in this case, KW density is 0% and doesn't appear to matter at all.

By the way, this article was written by a Warrior using a pen name!!! Way to go!

    Respectfully,

    I've always been told 3 - 5%.
    However...

I've been submitting articles for several years with no problems. Now, my last submission to Ezinearticles was declined. The problem, they said, was that my article should not contain more 1 keyword per 100 words.

As far as Google, not sure where the cut-off point is but, they do penalize for keyword spamming or stuffing.
