Follow up emails ( Need Help)

Hey guys I am doing three months worth of content for my subscribers when they subscribe through aweber. So I upload 3 months worth of content emails and daily tips but If I want to send something emergency or event coming up how do I do that?

Can I interrupt my automated follow ups?

How do you guys send that I mean the new guy needs time to catch up right? before getting the good juice the subscriber from last month is getting now right.

Anyone still with me..?

thanks!

I guess it depends on your objective.

    Ask yourself these questions.

    A) What is you initial follow up objective? Is it to get them to purchase a specific product? Establish trust?

    B) What do you plan on interrupting them with? If you are determined to interrupt them from the preset email presentation...what is the goal? To surprise them? Keep them on their feet? Hit them with some personality or random news of the day that supports there "need to purchase" your product?

    C) Do you have a clear outline for your follow up presentation? Is it set up with an end goal in mind? (sales)

    D) What is the clear purpose of interrupting your AR sequence? Is it to add additional value or is just creating an inconsistent distraction for the sake of sending "news of the day"

Setting up your AR sequence can be very pivotal...The old saying is "you have 1 chance at a first impression", is quite true.

Right out the gate, you might want to keep your first AR sequence a little bit shorter (if your business model allows) Tweak, test, optimize and scale.

Also, you might not want to interrupt them early on with a broadcast email, if not done right, it could potentially be too distracting and knock the subscriber off of the buying path.

There are tons of other things we can talk about, psychology of email copy... funnel strategies, how long to run an AR sequence, broadcast vs AR, but to keep it short..I would just say it depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

I personally like to let the AR sequence do its thing without me trying to mess with it....I leave it alone..especially after I have tested and optimized...Broadcast emails I can send out after the person has me in their "circle of trust"

***sidenote*** I have been known in the past to write an email up on the spot and shoot it out without sitting on it or showing someone else...hahah big mistake...I don't recommend it! Take your time and be calculating and think it through..

That's all I have to offer..hope it helps

When you setup an autoresponder you can have emails in a sequence which you are talking about above

    and

    you can send "broadcast" emails.

A broadcast email is one email that you can send to your whole list. it is one email, and not a sequence of emails.

So say you have a 14 day follow up sequence where you are sending daily tips to your list.

And on day 9 you want to send out just one email to your whole list but this is not a part of that 14 day sequence and like you mention above it's about an event.

Well you would send that as a "broadcast" email.

This doesn't interrupt your 14 day sequence as that continues and is separate from broadcast emails.

    hope that helps.

Aweber is a great tool for this question, let me explain.

you see, in your situation you have two options:

send the broadcast any way, if your follow ups intend to build a relationship than think about it:

if your friend is looking for a house, you offer him an option and then 45 minutes later you send him an email with another option, would it bother him? I don't think so..

or, you can use aweber's cool follow up feature that is called "set specific times and dates for this message" or something, in this feature you basically can decide what times and days of the week this follow up will be sent to your subscribers, so if, for example:

you set the follow ups to be sent from tuesday to friday, you can broadcast on monday without ANY PROBLEM, right?

or if you set the follow up to be sent at 9:00 am, you can send the broadcast at 5:00 pm, would it bother them? no.

would it bother them if you provide value on both messages, HECK NO!

got my point? good luck and if you need anything else feel free to HOLLLLLAAA!

Yes, I'm very much still with you, Edward, and I think you're asking a good and perceptive question here and "thinking it through the right way".

I think there are many helpful comments and much food for thought in the replies above.

It's not exactly something it's easy to "split-test" and I think quite a bit comes down to personal preference, and how much of a continuity-process you have in place to start with. I don't like "interrupting continuity". That's to say, I think my subscribers don't like it. So my perspective is a little different from some of those above.

Personally, I really prefer to avoid sending broadcasts whenever possible, for all the reasons explained here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7301227

And my perspective on "continuity" is somewhere in here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6123982

Yup, send a broadcast. But explain in the email WHY you are interrupting their day so as not to look obnoxious.

"Hey, I know your busy... just found this and had to tell you about it right away before the secret gets out..." - sumthin like that.

The answer to your question would depend on how you
nurture that list ans what they have come to expect from
you. Because this would mean that different subscribers
would be t a different place in the series and so the message
    may not suit everyone.

But on the other hand I think that most marketers lose
out more from the fear of sending broadcast emails to their
    list than annoying their subscribers.

You can't interrupt them, you have to delete them. Shouldn't be that big of a problem to send your extra broadcast out along with you normal autoresponder messages.
