Hey Guys, I'm realtively new to online marketing and my first project is a website similat to one I mention below and I need to understand why it is done this way.

If some one could help me shed light on it...

If you visit this website: [ grabanything4free . com ] and you move mouse over links they look like [ www . grabanything4free . com / go / product_name ]
But when you click they actually take you to outside pages. If this done for Google? Any ideas why links look like inside links but are not?

Thanks in Advance

  • They could be affiliate links that are masked so that people don't realize they're affiliate links or knock off the affiliate part of the link and rob the seller of commission.
  • The reason for the different URLs? They are masked affiliate links.

That's generally a very good idea. If you just send people directly to the site, people often figure out what site it's on and get the freebies without the benefit of your having sent them - and so you won't get the commission.

Also, having your own URL makes these links appear more trustworthy.

Most affiliate links look really ugly and people are afraid of getting on spam sites if they click on them. OR they don't like the idea that you'll benefit from their clicking on them.

I highly recommend that you set yours up like this as well.

    Good luck!

    • That link you described sounds like the wordpress plugin gocodes. I use it for my affiliate links and any links I want to redirect/keep track of clicks.
