Direction to go with, personal blog or informative articles?

I am working on a project in the health and self-improvement niche, but have a dilemma.

Should I write my articles personal and blog like,
or
should I write it very informative, but not really get personal.

To make things a little more clear, should I introduce myself into the website or make the website as kind of anonymous.

I'm planning on adding affiliate marketing into this website as well as outsourcing articles, but the majority of these articles will be written by me.

There is no reason you can't do both. Also using different voices, techniques and guest writers allows you to present your blog as a more credible bigger enterprise than just having one author that writes all the posts in the same way every time.

That was my reaction. I didn't know they were mutually exclusive techniques. I've been putting both articles and personal rambling on my main blog for years.

Both is the correct answer, just make sure you do mix the personal in more than just the informational - it is the stories and personality that sell after all!

And another vote here for "both". It's not compulsory, of course, but it's what's always worked well for me, in a pretty wide variety of niches.

I'm not 100% sure of how to exactly transition these two together. If I outsource articles, to whom do I credit it to? Or is outsourcing not credible enough and should only use guest posts from credible and reputable authors?

Just make an avatar for each outsourced article. Since the same person would write in the same style if you have an outsourced person write you five articles give that avatar credit for all five since they would all be written in the same style.

I would find it difficult to buy from someone in the health industry who does not have a personal story. I don't think I am unique.

Of course, as you are writing, when you quote known experts, you are giving validity to your arguments.

    So, you absolutely need both.

It's what you do when no one is watching
that determines what you will be able to
    do when everyone is watching.
