Difference between an article and blog post in terms of purpose served?

Beginning to learn SEO, I have not been able to make out that what is the difference between an article and a blog post?

Could someone please guide at the following points in this regard:

1. How can this be identified that whether a content is a blog-post or an article?

2. What purpose a blog post fulfills which can not be achieved from an article?

3. The way articles can be posted at articles directories, could the blogs be also posted at some websites (other than personal blogs) for SEO? If yes, then which are such websites?

Thanks for help in advance.

At my blog, I post articles daily. So, in principle, there is no difference - at least in terms of content.

    1. How can this be identified that whether a content is a blog-post or an article?
For the purposes of this reply, let's call something published at a blog ... a 'blog post' and something published at an article directory or website ... 'an article'.

    2. What purpose a blog post fulfills which can not be achieved from an article?
Staying with our above definition, my blog posts entertain, educate and engage with my audience; my articles get backlinks and visitors to my blog.

    3. The way articles can be posted at articles directories, could the blogs be also posted at some websites (other than personal blogs) for SEO? If yes, then which are such websites?
I occasionally publish my blog posts at eZinearticles. Sometimes, I will slightly reword them before I do. Because people reading an article from that source realise they are not reading a blog so, for example, I would chage the word 'post' (if used) to the word 'article'.

I hope this helps you a little. As I said, in principle there is little, if any, difference (at least for me) in terms of content. The difference is really in how the content is used.

I guess it depends on your writing style.

I tend to write more personal on my blog than I would in an article, meant for an article directory. But I've seen very personal articles on Ezine Articles, written by well-known Warrior members, so this is just my way of differentiating.

Also, you can be much more free on your blog than you can, if you submit articles.

    * You can integrate affiliate links in your blog posts.
    * You can boast about your own products in your blog posts.
    * You can insert videos, pictures and audios in your blog posts.
    * You can ramble or praise in your blog posts.

That said, there's nothing wrong with posting articles to your blog first and then to the article directories meant for syndication.

    Context.

Something that appears on my site as a blog post will - shortly after that - appear on some authority sites in the niche as a "guest post" or as an "article" (depending on what they choose to call it - that's their business and I don't care), in some ezines and newsletters as an "article", and eventually in an article directory, too (just in case anyone else I've missed out also wants to syndicate it further, which they often do).

I think of it as an "article" when I sit down to write it, but technically it starts its published life (on my own site - always there first!) as a "blog post".

The content is all exactly the same: only the context varies.

I am no specialist, but I can try to answer.
From how I see it, articles are presenting either some useful information about some issues, or some news of great interest to a wide audience. They are posted on specialized sites and are quite objective.
Blog posts are usually submittred to subjective point of view. They reflect blogger's opinon and tend to be more personal. The target public can be on a lessr extent that it is in the case of articles.

Blog is website writing. An article is simply a non-fiction writing piece. A blog is only found on the web while an article may be found in newspapers, magazines or on the web.
