Hiring US-Based Developers

All,

Does anybody know a good place to hire US-based developers for small projects?

I've got a couple small projects I'm trying to complete involving PHP and AJAX. I need to hire someone in the US for these projects. I tried posting on eLance with these constraints, but only receive bids from India, Pakisatan, etc.
