I have noticed that the majority of affiliate pages on clickbank have a lead capture pop-up for a mailing list. If I direct a visitor to an affiliate page, they sign up for the newsletter and then buy from an email a few weeks later, do I still make comission?

I assume a cookie would be present on the visitors computer for a period after they visit but that seems a bit precarious. For instance it may expire quickly, the user may delete it or the user may have his default browser set to a different one than he used to browse the site so the link from the email will launch the wrong browser and the cookie won't be present.

Anyone care to share their wisdom and experience on this matter?

    Hello,

    Yes if the
    visitors browser doesn't support/allow cookies=>no comission
    the visitor delete the cookie=>no comission
    the visitor visits other affiliate page after yours=>no comisson (for you )
    cookie expires=>no comission

    There are some vendors on CB using custom made optin box, because it captures the visitor's cookie so the affiliate actually can get (email marketing) the email addresses they generated.

    All the best,
    Adam

    More importantly, GuerrillaIM, are you capturing their details with an intermediary squeeze page and compelling offer?

    Apart from building your list, this gives you the opportunity to check with the vendor if you feel there have been some errors.

    Best regards,

    Gren.

    Thanks for the answers, I am a lot clearer now.

    Yes, I am using squeeze page and creating a list of my own but I do this in my spare time so I am planning on driving low cost traffic to an affiliate link to see if it converts before I set up the autoresponder series etc..
