Hey there for years I have been an advocate for installing wordpress self hosted on your domain and I still am

But do you think there is any advantage to having a blogger blog instead. I see LOTS of authors using blogger instead of wordpress. Is it easier to connect with other bloggers than using wordpresss?

  • I am a fan of WordPress and always have been. I did use blogger way back in the beginning but since I learned WordPress I've never looked back.
  • wordpress all the way..the themes and the plugins offers great value...blogger is good for more simple blogs..with wordpress you can make wahtever you can dream of
  • Wordpress Self Hosted

You have complete control it over it.

    There is no other option.

Until someone flags their sites, and they disappear in the night. Blogger is just out of the question, if you want to own and control your own sites and not have them arbitrarily removed without even understanding whether/how you've managed to breach the terms of service. Check out these threads (and 100 other similar ones) at your leisure, and then forget Blogger ...

  • I would stick with Wordpress. There are so many more options that you have with wordpress than with Blogger. You can add so many plugins. I really don't see any advantage to using Blogger unless you don't have the money to afford a domain name and hosting.

    • I agree completely with everyone else, wordpress is the way to go. You have complete control. You can however also make a blogger blog as a compliment to a wordpress site (Not sure why you would want to write for two blogs) But I have heard of people doing it before.
  • Flexibility and user support. That and owning your own online real estate. WordPress all the way.
  • Self hosted is key. If you have any questions about WordPress don't hesitate to ask. Been a part of it and in the core since day one.
  • Self hosted, if you can afford it... and in actuality... both!
  • wordpress self hosted and I'd have the domain name with one company and the website itself with a second company - example, godaddy for domain name (as they always have discount coupons that make renewals $7.49) but the site itself with hostgator (purchase the plan during black monday or similar for 40% discount). Why two? Because GoDaddy has a rep for taking folks domain names if something happens with the site they don't like so I keep them separate (just in case).

  • I certainly prefer Wordpress because it is easy to use and there are so many plug-ins you
can add. . I tried Blogger a few years ago . I have forgotten how to use it and my password
or whether a password is required or not. I cannot find the sites which was created by me.

    • Wordpress self hosted hands down.

I abandoned my old blogger sites in favor of Wordpress soon after I discovered it.
