im currently using microsoft expression encoder 4. i like its easy to use and the layout is simple and not too complicated and you record in a bunch of formats. a lot of people used camtasia, but for some reason i just didnt like the controls, just a personal preference though.

I'll have to be another giving Camtasia the props. Love the software and wouldn't use anything else.

Although I do use After Effects and Premiere Pro for my video editing when need be.

If the video to be recorded in on the computer screen, a new service called screenr.com is real easy to use.

If you have a Mac another great one to use is Screenflow. I use it all the time for the videos I make for my students.

Camtasia or Screenflow is best. Using Camstudio it has limitations when it comes to rendering video. If you are using it for simple presentations you can use Screenr it's limited to 5 minutes on the free one but the encoding is a lot better than Camtasia.

If you can't swing the cost of Camtasia then get Jing use the pro the free one is practically useless when it comes to the encode it gives you.

Is it easy to do power point presentations with this Encoder as well? if so what do you use to do it?
Prosper if you are just looking to do easy power point presentations and are going to use You tube for it then just use Camstudio and just record the area. If not use what the pro's use Either camtasia or Screenflow it's well worth the investment.

    Here's another vote for Camtasia.
But you can also try Animoto, that's also good
but a whole different thing from Camtasia.

    Thanks
