There really should not be a lot of difference in traffic approaches. Keyword, demographic fueled promotions will not rely on medium but more on message.

Actually i need to know where people who listen to Podcasts hangout. Obviously Itunes is one of them. Just to need some more effective places

Get some good reviews, and ratings.

I wouldn't worry as much about "where people listen to podcast hang out."

But "where do people interested in hearing my podcast's topic hang out."

I think Greedy has a couple good points.

First of all, some podcasts I listen to are constantly asking for reviews in iTunes if you enjoy the podcast. I believe your ranking in iTunes is based off your reviews and ratings.

As for getting those initial listeners you just need to go to some place with people interested in the topic. For instance if you podcast was about internet marketing I would think Warrior Forum would be a good place to get word out about your podcast. Is WF a place where people listen to podcasts? of course not. That doesn't mean members of WF wouldn't listen to a podcast about a topic that interests or benefits them.

Use feedburner to host your podcast RSS feeds. Make sure you submit to iTunes.

The most effective methods to promote a podcast is by writing a press release about the podcast..submit the release to free online press release directories .

You can find them here :

Press Releases - Software Marketing Resource

Another option is to submit podcasts to the podcast directories.

    Hope this helps

      exactly what i needed thanks..

I have audio and videos that get many views since i have a good number of subscribers.

I'm just trying to repurpose the content and make a podcast out of it.

It may be niche dependent to some degree, but when I did my own research some time back, people looking for podcasts expected a podcast - an audio version of an actual show - rather than some audio recording that is called a podcast just to repurpose content. The reaction at the time was not favorable.

You could probably deal with it by doing what the content curators are doing. Add an introduction and closing giving your take on why the content is still relevant or commenting on things that have changed, etc. In other words, add something fresh.

        Just a suggestion...

So when it comes to promoting your podcast my advice would be...

    1. Not to spend too much time submitting to podcast directories other than the big ones (iTunes basically). The smaller podcast directories are hardly worth it - honestly - I've tested it and some of those places are seriously tumbleweed towns.

    2. I agree with the idea of a Press Release. Be sure to get an advanced PR from PRweb.com and that way you can target by industry which could work well.

    3. Pimp yourself out to other related podcasts as a guest ("hey there I'm an expert at this - perhaps you're audience would be interested in hearing me talk about X?)

    4. For your podcast you could interview notable people within your niche (authors, bloggers, celebrities) and then ask them to tweet, or FB share the link to your show with their followers. This one works a treat! I got a couple of thousand hits after using this technique with a very famous blogger

All the best with it - I love podcasting - brilliant medium!
