IE 8 is here:
Internet Explorer 8 Has Arrived - ReadWriteWeb

Hold onto your britches because if you sell products effected by it and are not prepared you may be in for some surprises.

My partner has been testing and developing our dhtml/javascript developments so we are IE 8 compatible from the get go but I am sure that there are a few developers and app users out there with complex solutions that will be caught off guard.

Also IE 8 is stepping up security and privacy features in a big way so anyone still using the archaic cookie only tracking methods for affiliates needs to monitor whether that is going to effect your affiliates or not:

IEBlog : IE8 and Privacy

Our own system has been based on combination of cookie and IP tracking for a long time now in order to avoid these issues.

IE8 is stepping up the game providing users more privacy and ad blocking features so as marketers we need to take notice and monitor the effect it may have.

I hadn't really considered the affiliate tracking implications of IE8.

Then again, I am glad that Microsoft has finally brought security to the market, if for no other reason than to shut everyone up who still clamors about the antiquated argument that MS products are less secure. That might have been the case in 2001, but not today.

    Thanks Josh

I've been testing with the beta for several months now and can tell you that if you haven't tried your site in IE8 yet you may be in for a nasty surprise. I have one online application that uses a data grid control that is completely useless in IE8 (or at least it was, I have an updated design now).

I've just downloaded and been running some tests - I haven't come across anything that doesn't work, yet.

A couple of notes: DLGuard works fine with IE 8, and it seems Clickbank cookies are working fine too (I remember there were a few worries about this during the beta).

By the way, IE 8 has an option with something to do with displaying older style pages correctly. I haven't examined it too much, just yet, because I haven't had any troubles.

    cheers
