Just wondering about the best way to monetise a niche about a game, say poker or chess techniques, let's say I have 5,000 visitors to a niche site monthly.

What would be the best way to monetise that traffic, Adsense? Opt-in form to build a list and sell guides/information on niche? Affiliate links to products in the industry? Or a combination of the above?

If there is relevant product, you can try to put banner. For me, build a list on that niche is the best.

Okay thanks for the information. So will using AdSense be best or should I be contacting companies in the industry and offering the banner space to them?

Be careful if it's gambling techniques.. you could be violating TOS from some advertisers.

What you should do is some keyword research. Then take those keywords and take a close look at the competition on the first page of Google, Bing, and Yahoo. Jot down notes on what other people are selling.

Also take a close look at the paid ads (sponsored ads) on the first page because that will also give you an idea on what people are selling.

I'm not a big fan of Adsense because I've made far more money selling my own products and/or replacing those Adsense ads with my own ads that have my own affiliate links and CPA offers.

Yes, you should build your list from day one and mix your autoresponder sequence and/or broadcasts with solid content and offers.

The bottomline: you should test different things to find out what's going to make you the most money.

All of the above would work. Don't overdo it with the ads though, too many will just overwhelm the reader, & they won't click anything

Yeah dude, building your list is hugely valuable in most niches. Games etc is a great niche to build a list in. Have an opt-in form in the sidebar and maybe use something like pop up domination to have a web form pop up on the page as well.

It depends what niche it is and what they are looking for. For instance a poker crowd will no doubt be looking for information on how to improve their game.

The BEST thing you can do is put a survey up offering a free report in return for an idea of what they are looking for and then you will know.

Supply the product to meet their demands and you have a converting product and lots of traffic!
