PLR Articles and Niche Blogs

I just recently learned about PLR articles and PLR niche blogs(noob still taking in lots of info). I would like to know what Prebuilt PLR niche blogs/sites are used for. I am pretty sure you cannot just upload them and pass them as your own site because of duplicate content right?. What do some you of you use them for?

As for PLR articles is it ok to directly post some of them on our own site without any modifications? What about building a site with nothing but PLR articles, can that be done and money be made off that kind of site?

I have never used a PLR niche blog... so I can't say much about that. I'm assuming a PLR niche blog is basically a blog template with PLR content. In that case, you'd still want to make changes to the content to make it more unique.

What you can and can't do with a particular PLR product is set out in the PLR license. So, if the PLR license allows you to pass off the PLR content as your own or to use it as is, then you can.

However, when it comes to using PLR content as content for your site or blog, it's always best to make changes to the content. Why not take it a step further and add more value to the content.

It may take some time to make changes or add more value to the content, but I think that you'll gain a lot more than if you just used the PLR content as is.

It's not a good idea to use PLR articles on your own site. You can use those PLR articles to build some web 2.0 with a link back to your site.

There's nothing stopping you from doing that, but they aren't likely to get much traffic because of the duplicate content.

You can still use the template and any images you get with the blog, but you're best to rework the content. Usually niche blogs include things like header graphics, a WordPress theme, etc. as well as the content on the site.

Again, it's okay but it's unlikely to generate much traffic from the search engines. You can still post PLR unchanged and direct your own traffic to it, such as via an autoresponder series. Just don't expect any respect from the search engines.

You probably could make some money off a site with PLR content that hasn't been rewritten. It would depend on what niche you're competing in and how difficult the competition is.

If someone has posted the same content and they've built a ton of backlinks to it, then you won't have much chance of ranking. However, if they just posted it and don't have a strong backlinking campaign in action, then you can overtake them in the search engines.

Study some articles about backlinking and SEO as it really isn't possible to just put an article on a page and make money. Gotta do some grunt work too!

All of my PLR niche blogs are indexed by Google. Since I sell them, being a demo is their main purpose, although I do earn Adsense income from them. To get the most bang for your buck, it's best to take the PLR articles in them and rewrite a bit to make them more unique. Then use them for affiliate marketing, Amazon products, Adsense, CPA ... you name it. Really, anything you want. You can even make an authority site out of them if you do the work.

When you have your plr sites indexed by google is the content altered in anyway or just left as is and since it is for sale do you bother with backlinks etc?

I've never created a niche blog with only PLR content. I have however mixed PLR content with original content and also partially edited PLR content. I've never noticed any of the PLR ranking well, but it's my strong opinion that rankings shouldn't be a sole source of income anyway.

Readers will have no idea if it's duplicate content or not. Search engines will, but it's my understanding that they in no way punish you for having content on your site that appeared elsewhere.

Sure, you most certainly can post PLR articles on a site without modifying them. The only caveat is that it must be high quality PLR that has limited distribution (to avoid the repercussions of over saturated PLR content).

As far as building a site with nothing but PLR articles, I don't see why you couldn't make money from a website like that just as long as what I mentioned above is taking into consideration as well.

Rewriting PLR, IMO, is very important if you getting over-used PLR that has been out for awhile. If it is fresh PLR from a quality PLR distributor, then you may not have to rewrite it at all. It's up to you.

PLR articles are a great way to save time and niche blogs as well don't try to do too much at once though just take like 3 at a time max because you still have to build links remember content is queen and quality backlinks is king

I think I will just give the plr articles a try and then try the plr blog site later when I have the time to go through and change the articles.

it's a way for people to spin articles for blogs and other niche/authority sites but the way search engines are evolving i wouldn't be surprised if this practice would lose its effectiveness over time. Fresh new engaging compelling content works best

You can (But you shouldn't) post them directly to your blog or site, instead change the title and add your own special touch to the body of the content.

The beauty of PLR is that you can adjust it to use on your blog, you can create an autoresponder series with it to keep your list intrigued, you can use it for the basis of a report or an ebook, as the meat of a niche blog site etc...

Money can be made when you provide value to people that are looking for a solution to their problem or concern.

You generally have to spin them first.

PLR is a huge time save and you can do both the things you're talking about, but those aren't the best way to make money with PLR.

    1. PLR blogs:
    - Yes, you can upload them and use them as your own, however some sellers have specific terms you must follow. For example, at least one seller I know requires that you rewrite the articles a certain amount.

    - Duplicate content is content that appears more than one time on your own website, so that's not the issue here. The issue is being able to rank in Google, if that's going to be your main marketing strategy. If you're going to drive traffic to your blog through other means, then I wouldn't worry about too much rewriting. Just make sure the content is high quality and valuable for your target audience. Then edit it if necessary.

    2. PLR Articles:

    - Yes, you can post them on your own site without modification. Again, the only issue is whether you want to rank in Google and if the content provides the necessary value to your readers.

    - You could populate a whole blog with just PLR articles, but that's almost the same as using a ready-made PLR blog. Same issues.

How about sprinkling in your own unique content? Or transforming the articles into audio or video?

You should also consider taking a PLR report, or creating your own from PLR articles, and using that to build up an email list. By building up a list and providing them with quality content, they'll appreciate and trust you. No need to worry too much about Google when you're getting your business elsewhere!

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Best of luck!

Thanks Sharyn for your insights. Your post really helped me. I really need to get my blogs up and running...4 of them. I really can't afford top ghost writers right now. So I will put some PLR articles as informational pages and then add my original content as posts since the info is more current and changes.

I'm not really looking for search engine volume or rankings for the whole site anyway. Its more like i will be trying to rank certain pages.

I think this is the best I can do right now.
    Thanks

I agree with Sharyn, PLR are quite time saver and effective, if use properly.

I haven't done it myself, but I think that marketers using PLR niche blogs tend to use it for 1 of 2 things:

    1) Flip for quick profits (so you sell the whole site, including domain name, to someone else)

    2) A starting point for building up their own website.

Just throwing up a PLR blog isn't going to do all that well. You'd have to personalize it and market it to really get results.

Because you get what you pay for....

Cheap articles that offer no value to the reader or just don't make sense are absolutely worthless.

With High quality PLR you get content from writers that don't write cheap articles and you have a "springboard" from which you can add value and make it unique at a fraction of the price it would cost to hire a good writer
