Lets Combat Shiny Object Syndrome Together!

I created this thread because I know we have all been there and are still fighting it from time to time. In fact I am writing this to keep MYSELF on track. The "shiny object syndrome" where you are working on a particular method of making money online really putting all of your energy into it. You know its got potential and you can see the results if you continue to work at it.

Then.

Mr. Super Warrior with over 1000 posts since 2008, 150 thank you's, who's making 6 figures and has million dollar product launches in his pipeline with other super marketers, drops a WSO (no offense to anyone who fits this description, because you are an inspiration and motivator to us who hope to have the success you do), and now all of a sudden the method you have chosen to master doesn't have the same appeal as it used to. You can feel yourself gravitating as you read the catchy sales pages, and drool over the 5 figure screen shots. Now all of a sudden you are not as motivated as you were before seeing that new hot WSO hit the market.... and out comes your credit card.

One thing we all have to keep in mind is that THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS TO MAKE A FULL TIME INCOME ONLINE. Your path may not always be the same as others to get to where you want to be. Your method may be different from the Millionaire list building master mind like Frank Kern. Or a 6 Figure Adsense site guru with 10 sites all making 4 grand a month, or 200 sites making 25 bux a month living on completely passive income. Or a killer kindle guru with 200 books on Amazon bringing in a collective fortune. Or an Amazon product review site tycoon, or a CPA marketing juggernaut making a killing on zip submits with awesome PPC campaigns. But as long as you know your path will get you to where you want to be, and you commit to mastering one method before moving on to something else you will see success.

Its not an easy road to success in IM, so don't make it even harder by creating intersections with catchy signs. Jumping from one thing to another will not speed up this process for us. Learning from other peoples mistakes and sitting at the feet of the MASTERS of our chosen method and soaking in all they can teach us is what will get us there ASAP.

I will step off my soapbox now.

Anyone feel free to chime in on what helps you stay focused and on track.

I spent a considerable amount of time looking at my skills and skillset and figuring out what one business could I start that fit those skills well with a very high probability of succeeding (based on my skills).

I then promised myself to absolutely limit myself to two projects at any given time, and one of them had to be the project I picked. Whenever I had an awesome idea, I would jot it down in a Word file, and do absolutely nothing else about it. Most of those ideas will still be around in 1-2 years if my current project flops (which it won't), but now I'm not spreading myself thin across 10 different ideas.

Great idea, just make note of it and keep it moving on your current path. No deviating.

    my advice.

Stop going into the WSO section of this forum. THen you won't be seeing those make 1 Million dollars threads, and you won't be reading all the ad copy and being sold.

stop the process before it even starts!

Instant gratification is the killer. The new shiny object has far more appeal than the one we got bored with after the first week or so - it just doesn't have the same appeal as it did from the beginning. The cure is to realize making money online takes time. Opportunity seekers suffer more from this than entrepreneurs. It's a mindset deficiency.
