The problem is The niche

Hi All
I am working on building a website , i start reading alot of posts here that really help me to understand what IM is (ty all for that )

My problem is , i can't find something , i can't find a niche , i know that i miss something , but really i am lost here

everyone is talking about weight loss niche, but my view is to pick up another niche , but where is it?

    I to am just starting out in IM and this forum has been a wealth of knowledge. The one thing everybody has said to me as a newbie starting out is go into a niche that you enjoy.
    A hobby, something you know stuff about, something you really want to learn about.

    Make a list of all those things then have a nosey round google and on here and go from there.

    Take out a notepad and pen.

    Write down 5 things you are passionate about, 5 things you fear, 5 things you are interested in learning about.

    Then break them down into smaller "sub niches", so you are targeting a small piece of a big niche.

    For example, say you are passionate about golf. What problems do tons of amateur golfers have? Slicing the ball, so a sub niche of golf could be "How to cure a slice".

    Or, you could focus on a specific brand of golf clubs. For example, Callaway drivers.


    Or you can break the weight loss niche down smaller to something like weight loss for mothers who just gave birth.

    This was just to get you thinking, you have to put your mind to work.

    i am trying to do that , but what i love and what i enjoy to do , is not a profitable niches

      You don't have to use one of your passions as your actual niche, but you can use it as the angle to enter a niche and find a slice of targeted traffic.

      For example, someone likes to ski. They may not want to go into a 'skiing' niche or sub-nice. But travel sites can be lucrative so they could look at using their interest in skiing to start a travel site on helicopter ski vacations, or family friendly ski resorts.

      Now instead of researching boring travel articles for a niche they know is lucrative but not really interesting, they are researching ski resorts and activities that excite them.

      And skiing is their passion so when researching for a travel article, they are really keen to know what amenities are available, what the skiing is like, how how much would it cost if they actually wanted to ski there instead of just writing about it, etc.

      The health fitness/weight loss niche could also be targeted by focusing on diets, eating and exercise for skiing. As they build the brand it could be fitness and diet for outdoor active sports.

      Think of things you like to do, read about, talk about, think about, write about and see if you can use anything as an angle or USP (unique selling point) for your brand in a lucrative niche.

      Keep these things in mind while doing niche/keyword research and you should have many ideas- similar or different than these.

    It depends on your short term goal or long term goals. If I want to some quick profits then I make a small website and see how it converts, choose a product that coverts well and there are lot of hungry buyers out there for it.

    If I have to create a website for long terms, for which I need to write twice or thrice in a week, then its best to choose a niche you are passionate about.

    Just make sure what do you want at the moment? Looking for long term benefits or just want to make a small site, wana see how things works out and make a quick profit. Maybe you start enjoying it later.

      Finding "your" niche may well be your road to ruin. To make money you have to follow what the market tells you, not what you tell the market to be. So you may find your perfect niche, but it has only one person it it:

      You.

      You make money by following signals, not by something that may strike your fancy.

    This the crossroad of every Internet Marketeer, find your own niche, or follow the market.
    If you are a new in this business, I suggest you find your own niche and start looking for the one that interest you and interest the market at the same time.
    Once you have the experience, its time to compete with other Warrior for popular niche.

    Honestly, the best niches to turn in to a long term career, are any that you are passionate about. Chances are if you can write for days about a topic, and provide meaningful and amazing content for it, it's a niche you should get in to.

    Sure, sometimes those niches may be saturated (weight loss, making money) - but because of the nature of the 'evergreen' niches, new and noncompetitive profitable keywords pop up everyday that are worth chasing after.

    Or, if you're more into finding niches that you just want to make money off - learn how to do proper keyword research and just get in to random niches. This post will give you a breakdown, though honestly; my best income comes from anything that I provide passionate content for and happens to be evergreen. There are ways to gain traffic without having to compete directly with the big competitors (In SEO).

    Here are some places you can go to generate niche ideas

    amazon.com
    ebay pulse
    ezine articles
    ehow
    clickbank

    What I do is i try to find some seed keywords there and then i break it down to find long tail keywords. Long tail keywords are usually easier to rank for.

    I like to pick niches based on something I'd like to learn about. That way I can build a business and get an education at the same time. Most people say to do what you are passionate about and I agree to a certain extent. However, I have found that once I try to monetize my passions, i become less passionate about it.

    You indeed have some great ideas for brainstorming, identifying passions nad starting to think about turning those interests into a commercial direction...my only addition is to dig deeply into two areas:

    1. Existing products that are selling well - go to Amazon and look at top sellers around your topic area, look at magazine articles (they don't get past editors unless they are in demand), existing training courses and seminars...not only taking note of IF they exist or not but the angle they take, their titles, if they target the entire market or a smaller segment, their price point, etc...

    2. Listen in on your market - they will often give you hints on frustrations or information they would like to see...discussion forums, blog comments and Amazon reviews are all good places to "spy" on conversations your market is having.

    Go to the supermarket and walk through checkout. Those headlines on the magazines are all niches that could possibly be profitable. Find one that interest you and you have a niche to market to. Most of those magazines have already done extensive testing beyond what the average marketer has access to.
