Start writing it ASAP! The sooner it gets out there the sooner you can start getting feedback and make it better, and make more sales, and get more traffic, and make more sales, etc.

If you don't write the guide and put it out there nothing will ever happen.

Do you have a way to differentiate yourself, or are you just going to be more white noise? That's an important first thing to consider when deciding whether or not to invest time in this.

don't just think anymore..start with it.

You can go through other successful guitar courses and take ideas from them, how they are doing. See what is missing in all those course, whats new and what people want now. Give them a brand new course and something to remember for a long time.

11 years is a long time period. You have enough experience to teach other. You should start writing a guide.

I would consider putting together a video series that you can post to a secured site (membership plugin on a Wordpress blog for example) that would visually take people through a series of exercises.

I've also spent nearly 15-years on guitar and helped various people in the music niche bring products to market...what is missing in the guitar space would be a video series that a) Started with the basics (open chords, basic scales and a few simple exercises and songs and then b) which takes them into a series of optional style tutorials (country, blues, jazz, rock, etc...) Not only is this the pattern that most people follow but it allows you to target both those people online who jump on and search for guitar training in general (the basics) OR an even bigger crowd that go looking to emulate a certain style or even guitar hero.

Ok, I've been playing guitar for almost 8 yrs and bass for 2.5 yrs. I am also left handed and I play lefty. If you want to put out a guide that has chord charts in it, be sure to add in charts for us lefties! We are a minority but we are out there! It is hard to find lefty chord charts, but I did eventually, and I have a very good beginners lefty book that got me started. I hate guitar websites that dont offer lefty chord charts!

From what I know guitar lessons are a very good niche.
Tip: Facebook seems to work great for stuff like this because it's a specific interest, so you can grt highly targeted traffic.

Is that something you would be interested in?

I also think that a video based course would be better as jbsmith suggested.

Right now, I am working on an e-course myself.
I've create an e-book first which I used as a guide for the course.
I am giving it away for free and that is a good way to attract potential clients.

It is a pretty saturated market, however if you create a great product (and it sounds like you will with your wealth of expertise) then there is no reason why you won't be a success as your product will hopefully bump all the naff ones out of the way.

People know a good product when they see one so if you get it advertised in all the right places then it should be great.

Plus the beauty of creating a guide is that once you have written it all that is left is promotion and collecting profits. There should be loads of places you could sell it on too. From click bank, to ebay to even contacting relevant music and guitar websites and seeing if they would advertise it for a fee or even become your affiliate.

You could even give the guide away free, generate an email list and then sell lots of guitar goodies to them etc.
