I am looking into doing some things on Ebay and was wondering if anyone knows the best way to research things like most poplular items, trending items etc. I'm not totally sure these stats are available but I thought I'd check.

  • I just did a quick sweep of ebay and didn't see much of a tool or indication of the hottest products but they do have a community center area with discussion boards where you may be able to ask that very question and get some feedback.

Best thing you can do is go here: terapeak.com
It is the best tool on the market
for learning about products and doing research.

Check Amazon's best sellers (google what I just wrote) - it's easier to understand what sells good on Amazon and I don't think there's anything that sells very good on Amazon but doesn't sell on eBay....

eBay Pulse is obsolete, people found ways to game it. Terapeak is useless in my opinion, because the core of what you need is information based on the last 30 days. For this, there is Advanced Search. What is good is their seller research tool.

    Amazon top products is great.

To go even further, there is about a two month window where stuff from things you see on T.V. and in magazines becomes popular or trend on eBay in sales. If you can get within this 2 month window, you could stand to make a lot of money. I made a lot of money from Dr. Dre Beats as soon as I seen a magazine ad for them years ago.

I would have to agree that looking on Amazon top sellers list is a great way to research what is selling on Ebay. To take it a step further, once you find a product you are interested in selling, be sure and check the closed listings on Ebay to see what sold and for how much. Of course the more the profit margin the better.

I remember the day when ebay allowed digital products to be sold. Put 100 of those puppies, set the price at ) 0.25 cents and up the positive feedback system! lol

The good old days are gone.
