How to select your niche ?

I want to get into the niche of diet products. What do you think about this niche? I want to create a list and market products to this list. Do you have any ideas on how to select a niche? Thanks!

What do you mean what do we think about it?

You wanna go with the diet niche, GO FOR IT! There's nothing wrong with it if that's what you're asking.

Do I have any ideas on how to select a niche? Well, I do. But it's all pretty much covered in this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...e-problem.html

    Check it out.

    Hope I helped,

My advice to you is to NEVER pick a niche that you're not passionate about. Instead, pick a niche that you're knowledgeable and enthusiastic about, something that gets you excited to write about it.

Entering a niche in which you have strength and passion are critical for becoming a major success. If you know a lot about weight loss and physical wellness, then sure, go into that niche, but I can tell you that the "glamour" of a getting involved with a niche - just because you perceive it may be profitable - will wear off VERY quickly once you realize how much work you're putting in for something you don't have any enthusiasm for.

If you're passionate about building dog houses, then make a blog about building dog houses, one that shows you're the expert on the subject. Write one blog post a day, minimum, and it doesn't even have to be all that SEO targeted - just relevant to your niche with every post.

Before you know it, you'll have more than 100 blog posts, traffic will be coming in naturally, and if you monetize your site correctly, you WILL start seeing some income.

Can you imagine writing 100+ articles on something you don't even like? I know I can't.

If you can find the place where these four traits align...

    - Your Strengths, Skills, Education, and Experience
    - What You're Passionate About
    - Your Resources in That Niche
    - A Hungry Market and/or a Strong Approach the Niche's Market

... then you'll generate interested visitors to your website who will perceive you as the authority on the subject, and will be far more likely to trust you, return to you, and buy from you.

If you want me to summarize everything into one sentence for you, without all the reasons WHY you should follow my instructions, then here it is.

"Pick your niche based upon your passions, knowledge, and experience in that niche."

    Take it and grow.

This niche is a great one for selling multiple products and it is something that will never really dip in popularity and has stable search volume so if you can get their it would be really great.

However it is an extremely saturated market, online and off so unless you are confident you can get some great targeted traffic then you may want to bare this option in mind and brain storm so others before you go ahead.

One of my sites in in the acne niche and although i get good targeted traffic and sell and top physical product the conversion is low. I assume this is for many reasons the biggest being their is so much choice for people with acne, they can eve pop down the road to their local supermarket and get products that fight acne, so not everyone is prepared to pay a lot of money for a product and wait for it to be shipped.

If you has a software product for example, something that the customer can instantly download only get online then you would prob have better conversion rates. Well that's my experience at least.

Good luck. Hope this helped a little

Get busy finding problems, frustrations and desires and then filling them.

    Simple as that!

The keys to entering any new market, attracting interest and then getting prospects to pay attention to you, trust you and then take action based on your recommendation are...

    1. Understand the biggest challenges/desires and knowing if these are universal or are divided by specific sub-niches. For example, many people want to lose weight, but men around 40 have a very specific challenge of love handles, women have a very specific challenge of getting rid of weight added during pregnancy, etc... You can get this knowledge from reverse engineering existing successful sites and products, monitoring active discussion forums, talking with your target audience, etc..

    2. Know WHY they want to reach their end objective...let's say they want to lose 10lbs...what do they feel in their life will change once they have achieved that goal? Will the man be more appealing to women again when he gets rid of the love handles or is the concern his long-term health? Knowing the motivations behind a given desire are the HOT BUTTON marketing messages that make a massive difference in targeting and marketing within a niche

    3. Once you understand #1&2 - you have a very good idea of the product/solution you need to bring to the market AND you know they will badly want what you offer AND you can position it squarely inside the head space of those who come looking.

That's how to really capture a niche.

Can your niche be a sports club?

If so, how would you make money for that sports club niche?

Which is why I'd like to do a sports club.

But do I simply start a blog and write about the club? Or do I need to something specific or different?

  • Always remember this few things when you're working on any niche whether the competition is high or low!!

    1. Your commitment matters the most, how much effort you're putting into it... Maybe you're putting 100% effort, but your competitor putting 200% effort.. For sure he gonna steal all your sales.

    2. Do the right way. I understand everyone make mistake. When you get the right way working for you.. Adopt to it.. Don't jump around!!

Final words.. Choose whatever niche you like... But focus and make it successful!! If not there is no point for you!!

Currently I market in dozens of what may be considered some of the most saturated niches. There are three simple criteria (the three Cs) which I use in selecting these niches:

Competition - heavy competition generally means means it's a proven money maker. Most of the heavy lifting has already been done by other marketers.

Continuity - stable demographics and availability of a wide variety of related products for repeat sales. The targeted consumer profile must be able to sustain buying products at profitable price points.

Content - Resources available to consistently produce marketing copy, ads, websites, articles, etc. This includes core skills in writing, sales and marketing at levels specific to the targeted niche.

I appreciate your reply - I am just starting in IM and I would love to get some ideas for niches that you have in mind.
Also - I don't understand why I need to knowledgeable about my niche - I assume that I can just outsource the job of writing blog posts/articles. Is this a valid assumption?

As one just starting, you should begin with a niche of which you are knowledgeable. As you gain experience, then consider outsourcing so you can focus more on expanding your business. Here are some of my favorite niches. I have a staff of full-time writers/researchers who produce top notch articles for syndication.

Ranking in the SERPs has nothing to do with my niche selection. My selection criteria begins with a "C". I learned early on to never try to sell in competitive niches using the same methods as the competition.

Could I say that it means if you do the same thing like other people, and then you just get the same results like other people?

You can. You should check the Warriors For Hire section in the forum.

About your question in niche research, I would suggest that you immerse yourself with the niche that is interested in it. Some good places are Sparkpeople.com or Shape.com. Why do you need to do this? So you'll know what types of products they are willing to sign up for and what type of products they are willing to buy. You'll also know their language and what type of articles or reviews do they respond to.

Lots of good advice in this thread. Thanks.

Jack, how about taking a peek at this blog entry I made in WF.

It is about one of the ways in picking niches according to market interest - based on simple analysis and not based on hypes nor expensive keyword tools.

There are many ways to bring traffic and monetize your micro-sites. But do it legally.

Yep I'd agree that opting for an unfamiliar niche can be problematic. So if you want to enter the diet niche then do some research, find out who the top dieting organisations are and their membership fee's. Then look on amazon and find relevant products that you can promote. Do do it until you've done your research. Also think about whether you'll provide an information based website or actively sell your own diet system or products.
