Using free co.cc domain for squeeze page?

Is it okay if I use a co.cc domain for my squeeze page? I'm someone who just started list building. I even think I might buy a few solo ads. Does it matter that its co.cc? I have the website working fine already.

Why not get a $7.49 domain from GoDaddy?
It will be a whole lot better than using a co.cc...

  • I think co.cc domains are no longer remain in google search. They have penalized by google a long time ago. I would suggest not to use these free domain names such as co.cc, co.cz etc.

The domain (singular) "co.cc" was delisted by Google at one time (including, of course, all its subdomains). I thought it had now been re-indexed? I may be wrong about that.

      A .co.cc "domain" isn't actually a domain.

      It's only a subdomain.

The "co" bit in the name isn't part of the extension, as with .co.uk: it's actually the name of the domain. "cc" is the extension. So all you have, if you use a .co.cc "domain", is a subdomain on a domain which someone else owns. And it's one which has (at best) a very ropey history.

Added to which, it isn't a top-level domain extension and won't rank as well (apart from for searches made from the Cocos Islands).

Even a ".info" domain ($2.99 in several places) is a far better bet than this.

I used the co.cc sub/domain a while back, and while it has been reintroduced into google, they don't rank as well as literally any other domain.

I hate when people answer a question with a question. The OP asked about free domain. Don't worry about why he don't pay for a domain. Maybe he/she is that broke... something that you must know nothing about.

Apparently not, though, this time: if you read his post again, you'll see that he's talking about buying solo ads.

Sometimes people simply aren't aware that for under $3 they can buy a top-level domain which will rank just as well as any other top-level domain can.

It can actually be a very legitimate way of trying to be helpful, to clarify something not mentioned in the question - and sometimes even by asking a question. "Just saying".

Would be worth the small investment to get a proper Top Level Domain such as .com
