A simple, "How do I?"

Hey Forum,

I'm helping out a client with their first eBook and I can't remember the best to way to have a buyer added to a buyers list in Aweber. I know I can use their email parsing but I'd rather not go that route so the client gets new sale notifications.

Is there a way I can hide the download link on the thank you page until they add their name and email? I know I've seen something like this floating around but my searches have come up empty.

Thanks in advance!
Jeremy

After they make a payment using paypal or whatever else, you just redirect them to a page that tells them to look in their email account because you will send them the download link in an email.

Then in the email you send them "it will be a confirmation email" they will have to click on the confirmation link which will send them to the download page.

At the same time as soon as they click the confirmation link you can have the first email they are sent be the one with the download link inside that email.

So it would be something like, 'Thanks for joining - here's your download link."

The easiest way to do this that gives you over 90% buyer optin is to include an optin box on the download page. Use an iframe, or Javascript or some other way to make this a dynamic part of the page. It should look like it's own independent box on the download page. The box (content box) has an optin form and a message making it clear the customer list is special, for customers only.

You can pre-populate the name and email address using passing of variables. Very simple for a programmer to do for you. Then all they have to do is hit submit. Once they submit, have the box load the thank you page code so the message they saw (and optin) is replaced by a "thanks for joining the customer list" type of message.

This gives you 95% optin (at least it does for me)

Use simple passing of variables so you can pass the customer name and email address to the iframe ahea do

Thanks Randall... that was my offer to them but they didn't want to spend the money just yet. DLGuard is the way to go

DLGuard is great, however they can't force customers to be added to a customer list. They have a well-integrated parser function with Aweber. In other words, Aweber will still send a confirmation message. The way I described above, if you set your list to NO optin confirmation, there is no extra step. Customer adds himself quickly and painlessly right on your thank you page.
