Case study (in progress). 12k email subs. How to monetize best?

Hey everyone!

At OutsourceFactor we've started working one-on-one with a few entrepreneurs to help them grow (using outsourcing + general strategies).

One guy has a list of people in the parenting market. Parents of younger children looking for behavior solutions, generally. He's got about 12,000 on the list, and generally has been sending out very high quality educational emails, although NOT very often. So he's not making much money from his list.

I'm looking for some ideas from other warriors. He values quality, and won't send crap to his list (we agree).

Question - aside from "parenting products" (info products), what would be worth promoting to a list of parents who have young kids? No idea is dumb. All ideas are welcomed.

FYI, one of the strategies we're helping him with is to use a VA to pull together the regular content for his list. I don't know how many of you have done this before, but it makes sense to get someone else to help you find great content to mail out.

    - "future" related (insurance, education, educational products targeted to different segments of the list depending on age of the child)
    - money related (coupon sites, amazon promos. ie: parents saving money on regular purchases)
    - solo ads from related businesses

Great suggestions, Joe. Love the saving money ideas, since everyone loves to save. No reason for toddler parents to be any different. Heck, that could be a great strategy right there ... filter the Aweber list for countries that have Amazon. Get a VA to look for weekly sales on products that are of potential interest to parents. Send out that email weekly along with other useful content.

    Nice!

    Other ideas?

Go the exact opposite way, and promote 'prestige' products. As much as some people want to save money, others will pay big bucks to give their kids an edge or stroke their own egos. Why else would a parent pay big bucks for a designer outfit the kid will outgrow in a few months?
