I have a product to sell....

Hey guys, I have a digital product to sell, and I'm wondering what the best way to go about it is.

It's not an ebook.

My plan is essentially to set up a simple website displaying what the product can do (it comes in 3 flavours). I'm just not sure what the best way is to create the website. Is wordpress actually useful for this kind of thing? How easy is it to incorporate a shopping cart sort of facility into a theme?

Ideally I'd just want something clutter free. I'm not very good with web design when it comes to aesthetics though.

Then it's a case of 'do I go it alone?', or do I use a service like Clickbank to help me generate sales.

Legally, what is the script with returns on digital products too? I mean, should I give refunds to people? It's not like they can 'send back the product'...

Thanks for any help.

Begin by researching all the possible sites, commerce/shopping carts, etc. There are so many and unfortunately a lot of them charge way too much. If you take your time and search around you will find cheaper and better tools and sites to work with. It's all about taking your time and not jumping in right away - do your research and don't fall for all the hype.

After much research I decided to go with the Ning network to set up a membership style syte. Yeah it's pretty simple looking and what not - but when you're starting out the last thing is plunk down a lot of money in a business that you're not even sure is going to bring in a profit. Simplicity is best and I really like what this site provides.

I'm so done with expensive tools that you can find a lot cheaper if you do your research... this goes in particular for facebook and wordpress plugins. So much hype and stupidity out there that even the best of us fall for it from time to time.

    Good luck.

This is great advice. Research is absolutely the most important part of the process. You can find great alternatives that charge little to nothing as opposed to spending hundreds of dollars for some carbon copy piece of crap.

I definitely sounds like you needed it. The hill your attempting to climb has a lot of pitfalls and if your not careful you will fall into one of them. This is the best advice you can get here. Get a mentor. I know I had to. With what I know now in hindsight I would have certainly be setting my self up for failure if I had went for it on my own.

Welcome to the forum Newp. Find a good website builder, see if you can sell your product on Clickbank and Paydotcom. Throw some paid advertising in the mix. Use free strategies like forums, articles, blogs, and seo to drive traffic to your site and get exposure.

You can make Wordpress do whatever is needed for a web site... but it still takes quite a bit of skill, so you may still want to outsource that. The advantage of Wordpress is that you would probably be able to make minor changes once the site is complete, by yourself, rather than always going back to a web designer.

I would seriously suggest investing in private coaching or atleast some WSOs and other products specifically pertaining to setting up your sales funnel, acquiring affiliates, paid advertising etc. If you've got a kickass product you owe it to yourself! Good luck!

Welcome to the warrior forum Newp.

I totally agree with christian on this. When starting out I first thought that having just any type of product would sell like crazy on the internet. But unfortunately I was wrong, this was because I ignored the research phase which is the most important part in any successful business.

These are some of the Free tools you could use to do your research if you haven't already used them:

Google keyword suggestion tool - for global monthly searchers
Link assistant - good for spying on your competition

For refunds, I think it is best that you offer a refund on your site, this not only gives a positive image on what you're trying to sell, it also helps increase sales over time. Believe me when I say you don't want people giving negative feedback on your product.

Message me, I will try to help you in any way that I can.

    hope this helps.

With or without Clickbank you're alone. Clickbank does very little to help you generate sales. Very few people get up in the morning and say, "think I'll head over to Clickbank and see what I might buy."
