I LOVE PIZZA! BUT I LOVE SOLO ADS MORE!!!

Hi guys just wanted to share some useful tips for anyone who doesn't think they have the funds available to fund their list building efforts.

This is why I named this thread "I LOVE PIZZA BUT I LOVE SOLO ADS MORE"!!!

What I am trying to say is that many people at the beginning of their list buidling journeys may think that they do not have enough cash to buy "Solo Ads" to direct fast targeted traffic to their squeeze pages etc and ultimately fast track their list building efforts!

If this means you have to cut out those little treats like "Ordering A Pizza" on a friday night every week then so be it.

This is what I did in the early stages and ordering a pizza for me and my family costs around $40.

Now you could invest this into buying a solo ad a couple of times a month instead of giving it to that massive pizza place we all know and love.

If you have a high converting squeeze page, a good OTO, a good back-end sales funnel etc you can easily make back the initial invesment and then be in profit from the back end sales you make from your auto-responder sequence.

Now you can re-invest some of those profits into more solo ads once you know and have tested your whole sales funnel from front to end.

Once you have tested out your sales funnel with solo ads and know you are going to profitable from it, you are now in a great position because you know you can use those profits to buy more advertising for your list building business and this way you are building your list FOR FREE!!!

Now you can also treat your family to a PIZZA EVERY DAY OF YOU PLEASE!!!

We all think sometimes at the beginning that we don't have the funds but trust me you only have to sacrifice one thing to be able to take your business to the next level.

Hope you guys take this advice and use what you already have and make it happen!

All the best & good luck to you all!!!

I absolutely agree, list building is so important. It is one of my early regrets with Marketing that I did not get onto it sooner. That is in the past and I am in the present now and have learned.

The only other aspect which is just is important is the character you define for yourself and the relationship you establish with your list.

Sure solo ads a great way to build your list, but to make your money back you need to make sure you have good conversions with your funnel.

I suggest at least 40% optin rate at the squeeze page and more than 1% sales.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6956904].message }}

Thanks guys some good feedback there!

The one great thing about solo ads is that it allows to quickly measure your whole sales funnel.

Once you know how to track everything from the front to finish of course.

Building a list using FREE methods is great and should also be used along side paid methods.

But I wanted to show any newcomers that all they have to do is make just one simple sacrifice and it can make a world of difference further down the line in your online business.

Thanks again and keep em coming!

...or if you're really serious about creating a business you could go out and get a part time job to fund your advertising. I doubt cutting back on pizza will help too many people. I'm sure the one's who need money for advertising are well aware of how much money they have - or waste. I'm not suggesting it's a bad idea, I'm merely suggesting that if anyone comes onto this thread and learns that they have to be wise with their cash, then maybe they need more than pizza money to get to the next level.

That's funny... I always think to myself whenever I drive past a Little Caesars that if I were to stop and pick up a hot & ready, that would be $5 less that I could spend on advertising. So I turn my head forward and say, "darn you solo ads for having the greater benefits of list-building than devouring a super delish pizza"

Yep losing weight at the same time is a HUGE BONUS (excuse the pun)!

It just seems to me that we who live in countries like the UK, USA, Canada, Ireland, Australia etc do have the luxury of having enough spare cash that can be invested else where like into our business.

I hear people complain a lot about how short they are on cash and then go and spend $50 on something they don't really need.

I think it is just a case of realising how wealthy we really are and using this to our advantage.

I just hope more people from the listed countries above take action on this and use what they already have to their advantages and funnel that spare cash into something like solo ads or any other form of paid advertising.

Thanks again everyone for your thoughts and all the best!

      Can't speak for gcbmark20 but that's £27.

A large dominoes pizza with decent toppings costs £14 in the UK!

There's always special offers to be had though, but regardless, when I get them for myself it always comes to about £18 one way or the other.

Admitedly, a lot goes in the freezer too for reheating later...

    Hi Marco,

I noticed you said you had run a few solo ads but haven't seen much success with them.

Were you using recommended solo ad sellers or finding them on your own?

What were you offering as a FREE gift and OTO?

You see if the seller of the solo ad was sending you traffic that wasn't really interested in what you had you offer and was just taking your money then you should look at buying some solo ads from the guys here at the W.F.

Also you can go to Safe-Swaps.com and the sellers there are scored on previous buyers purchases so you know or have an idea of what you are buying before you make an investment.

Hope this helps Marco and feel free to PM me if you like.

    Hi gcbmark20, thanks for this.

I picked solos from 2 different providers that were recommended in a WSO that I bought here on the Warrior Forum. The WSO had good reviews.

    I sent out:

    - solo1
    * Freebie was PLR ebook on list building that I rebranded.
    * OTO: A Wso on list building that had been site of the day

    - solo2.
Sent people to a Webinar by a Warrior that promoted an Internet Marketing product related to using solo ads
OTO. The webinar itself was promoting a product

    - solo3.
Freebie: A PLR ebook, covering a few quick cash strategies
OTO: Google Sniper 2 Clickbank product

I sent several broadcasts to the subscribers I got. Promoting a few Internet Marketing related offers:

    - Mobile Money Bandit on Clickbank
    - Level 5 Mentoring. Law of attraction related webinar.
    - PLR Software with Master Resale Rights product on Clickbank
    - a list building giveaway (free to access, but with a paid upsell)
    - The New ClickBank Code. On ClickBank
    - a webinar by Alex Jeffreys that teaches make money online methods. And promotes an Internet Marketing product at the end as an upsell.
    - a couple more Internet Marketing related products that had good affiliate sales stats

I built my list up to around 260 people. (Also did a few list building giveaways). But from all these promotions I got exactly zero sales.

Any ideas on where I should improve?

    Thanks again,
    Marco

Your list size was around 260? I would say you need to build up your list size. You can do this for free by doing ad swaps. Usually you will only get around 1 in every 100 people making a purchase
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6962663].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author gcbmark20
    Hi Marco,

Yeah I have to agree with seanpbh if your list is relatively small then you will do your nut trying to come up with reasons why you are not seeing any results.

Just focus on building your list and get up to 1000 at least.

Even if you are only earning $1 for every subscriber a month after that you still have an extra $1000 in your back pocket for not having to do much more work than you would doing a normal run of the mill day job.

1 out of 100 people to market to in order to make a sale is usually what people say but it is all about testing, seeing no results, testing again until you hit that sweet spot.

I have found something I thought would bring in good profits would turn out to be a complete no-score or little success.

Then I have just experimented with my squeeze page, OTO, follow sequence etc and have seen some great results not thinking it would even work.

You have to aim to look at what people would really appreciate as soon as you add them to your list and aim to build from there.

Allow them to get to know your name and create that massive first impression so that when you send them another message they are excited to hear from you.

Look at other successful marketers are doing and better what they are offering by coming up with ways of doing so with your own spin on things. Add your personality to everything as you will then stand out from the crowd.

Hope this helps Marco and feel free to ask more questions if I don't get back to right away just be patient as I am working hard on my new project at the moment.

    All the best everyone!!!

    Thank you gcbmark20 and seanpbh,

    very helpful.

Yes, I agree. I understand that a list of 260 is way too tiny. Probably too small even to perform a meaningful statistical test.

I was trying to reach that magical point of $1 per month per subscriber. And at the same time to see if I could break even (spent around $200 so far, earned $0).

What's the best strategy to get there and monetize?

Do you just have an autoresponder, and in the first emails you just send out content, then in the following emails you start to send out promotions?
Or is it best to base it on broadcasts?
How do you split test auto responders? You just test different ones at different times and compare results?

you spent under $1 per opt-in - not bad at all if it was converting. You got to get your funnel in order - I'd be working on your follow-up and offers.

    Hello again Marco,

I really like to send at least 10 emails day after day that are packed with pure content and subtle pitches towards a particular or service etc.

Really hammer it home within those first 10 days for me and as long as you are sending videos, blog posts that are offering related content that will blow the subscribers "Socks Off" then they are more likely to remember you and will want to see more of you.

Remember that when you are buying solo ads many other marketers have also bought from the same solo ad seller.

So you have to make them remember you but in a good way of course.

Don't be afraid to ask them to buy the full course or complimentry training etc after your content you have sent them to.

This way you are getting them excited and then gently showing them where the key to the kingdom is.

Hope this helps Marco, all the best!!!

    extremely useful again.

I can see how you do build up towards a very specific offer, in your series of emails. While I've been sending a sequence of random offers (good offers, but still unrelated, and without much introduction to them), and that's probably why I haven't gotten great results so far.

higher volume solo ads could be cool but I couldn't bring myself to spend any money on lists that are likely diluted already by adswaps and such.

it's definitely a great way to start up (adswaps/solos) but in the long run you're better off putting out free WSO's (or something) and getting fresh-ish leads... as a side note, use warrior plus to autocapture their paypal email, then have an optin page for their "best email".. double the chances of them seeing your mail. yay!

It's all about targeted traffic, I also love solo ads to bring the most targeted traffic to my landing pages, and they usually convert more.

Good Pizza in the UK? The best pizza is in Italy and than New York

      You actually made me hungry....

You put solo ads into interesting perspective, but I still dislike them.

I prefer to build my list through a simple opt-in on the sidebar of a niche site. It's nothing fancy but it works, and it help me to build lists in many niches and not only IM.

Pizza is great but building a list can be good for your pocket! However, while I agree with your points I think more emphasis needs to be on WHERE you buy your solo ads and WHO from. You really do need a good offer and advert as well for it to be truly better than Pizza!

Good advice brotha, but damn $40 for pizza for you and the fam? How many people ya feedin in that brood? I get an xtra large with 2 toppings for $20, and that will feed 3 of us. Ha. But yeah I hear ya, great advice. If newbies would just allocate some of their beer money too, they would have a list in no time.

You make a good point here, actually an excellent point. I have learned this lesson the hard way. I have tried all year to get things going and have been a little too cheap doing it. I have not necessarily ordered too much pizza, but the fact is that you have to get out of the "I need a cheaper price mentality". I still believe you better do some homework before you buy, of course, but in so many of the cases you get what you pay for. You have to be willing to invest in yourself and your business. After that, it is showing up every day and looking for ways to contribute.

I like the advice as well. But my growth with solo ads came when I would see another WSO I wanted to buy and instead I would use those funds to purchase a solo ad. When I quit buying the next shinny object and just out that money back into my list building, I finally started to see some success. That and opting out of all those guru lists that I kept buying from : )

Or if you want solo ads on steroids, try ordering from a top rated seller on Fiverr. I did that and got more hits from that ad than any other site linking to mine during that ENTIRE month. It was my highest traffic month in the history of my website to date.

Don't buy from someone who isn't a top rated seller with tons of good reviews though.

Good post. I myself have been cutting back on spending on frivolous things and investing the money in IM such as solo ads. It has tremendously helped and i wished i only built my list soooner.

I examined my finances and realized I could cut my weekly cost by 30 bucks if I made my own lunch. Now I have a place to spend that saved dough.
