Is Flippa slowly becoming the new SEDO/Afternic?
I have been active on Flippa for around 2 years and have noticed a trend that has been developing over the 6 months or so. There has been a number of domain sellers looking to offload their premium domains (as well as some selling some very average ones as well). I could be wrong on this but 2 years ago I don't remember so many domain flippers using Flippa seriously in the domain aftermarket.
To show some examples of what i'm referring to, there has been an Australian called Wayne Bond or concarnie as he's known on Flippa: https://flippa.com/users/378563
He has recently sold POW.ORG, Grossed.com, Organ.com and Nak.com to name but a few. It could be he finds it easy to list and get some targeted buyer's as he approaches his retirement, although i'm not sure why he couldn't use SEDO and their brokering service in all honesty to give an example.
However, in the last few days there's been another new user called CategoryDefiningDomains who's also selling some serious domains: https://flippa.com/users/544648
They include: Winnipeg.com, Juice.org, Sushi.net, Cosmetics.net, Salons.com, Pasta.com, Sushi.com etc.
Wow, what a list of premium domains!
I am interested if you think Flippa is now starting to become a serious competitor to the likes of SEDO, Godaddy and Afternic, and if so why is that? Afterall it's set up as principally a website selling marketplace which is clear from their home page: "The #1 Marketplace for Buying and Selling Websites"!
So what do you guys think, and where is Flippa heading in the Domain aftermarket space and also why do you think a number of domain vendor's with some serious premium domains seem to be heading towards Flippa as opposed to the more "traditional alternatives"?
N.B. As someone who also owns some domains that i'm thinking of selling this also has some interest to me business wise.
