I am trying to speed up my list growth. Are solo ads the way to go?

Hey

I felt very frustrated today, my email list is growing but very slow.
I really want to speed things up, scale up fast and was wondering if solo ads are the way to go.

Also do you advise on any other traffic tactics for speeding up list growth that you have personally used and got results with, paid or unpaid?

thanks

Mark

solo ads have worked very well for me and yes you can build a list very fast but you still need to focus on giving away a quality free offer and that you have a half decent sales funnel set up

having a good OTO (which you own) so you can build your buyers list is very important

including an upsell into your funnel is what made my campaigns super profitable overnight

if you don`t have one don`t worry but it`s certainly something to think about including as soon as you can

I agree with Paul on putting a SLO or self liquidating offer in your funnel. that way you can reinvest quickly.

Also try list swapping and JV giveaways to increase your list rapidly.

Keep up the solo ads also

    Paul is correct.

Also, ensure you investigate the quality of solo BEFORE you buy it.

    Check reviews.

I've seen lots of fake solo ads now adays.

    Do your research.

But make no mistake; a quality solo is the fastest way to build your list. (Fastest that I've encountered at least). - Okay, there are other methods of paid traffic that work, but solo ads are in the top 5.

Yes Solo ads and ad swas is definitely the thing you want to do if you want to go faster . It’s cheaper than PPC and more effective at the moment than Facebook PPC. The Directory of Ezines is probably the best , although they’re a bit expensive if you’re on a tight budget.

As Sarevok said ,You must remain aware of certain fraudulent sellers

Solo ads is one of the best ways to go. The KEY is to find marketers with a quality list, but better yet - make your solo ad profitable. Here's what I mean, make sure that your back-end products convert. I usually like to go with high ticket items because to me it's better to make 1 $500 sale than to make 100 sales of a $5 product. Atleast you'll be able to leverage and pay for the cost of your ads, therefore getting paid to build your list

^^ I partially agree with this

I find solo ad traffic to be less effective for promoting high ticket items though. PPC and banner ads are more effective for the high ticket commissions I'm looking for. At the moment I'm averaging 2k for every 100 leads within the first month. That's not including the subs who haven't bought the high ticket products. I also recommend creating a recurring income stream.

Do you want to build your list fast or build a responsive list that anticipates your next email?

The cold hard facts on most solo type ads is the list members are basically trained to go for free but very few are buyers. I can promise you .. if you get a shot at anyone's true buyers list .. it will cost you a lot more than a couple a bucks a click.

Ad swaps, sell solo and buy solo mailings at Safe-Swaps

is a great place to look for solo ads. im currently using them to quickly build a list, hopefully a responsive one, before my launch. i have a few articles on my site covering my solo ads adventure. you can use the link in my sig to get to the homepage if you want to read about it.

i like safe swaps because you can see who has a good rating and who delivers their clicks reliably. its an awesome resource.

Solo ads are a great way to build you list and so are adswaps. Adswaps are great because they are free. You should make a post on the forum asking if anyone with the same list size as you would be willing to do an ad swap. Make sure there in the same niche though. Good luck!

Solo Ads and Ad Swaps, there's no faster way to build your list.

The only thing you have to take into consideration is the provider.
Contact and interact with the owner previous to the actual purchase; otherwise you might end up paying for a low profitable list, or poor results in conversions.

    Hi Mark,

Solo Ads are a good way to build your list. It helps if you have a decent OTO as this will help you get back your Solo Ad cost so you can reinvest it again.

Guest blogging is a very powerful way to get subscribers if you're blogging about the same topic as your free offer.

Adswaps can be ok but you've got to be careful not to tire your list out by giving them free stuff from other people all the time.

When it comes to list building and especially solo ads and ad swaps everyone has their own opinion...

For me - solo ads (and to a lesser degree ad swaps) are an important part of my business model...

Here is a coaching session I did recently regarding solo ads and ad swap, I think you will find it very helpful...

Solo ads seem to work, but my list is growing slowly as well. I'm really not sure why though. I think I send out solo ads to lists of thousands a couple times a week, but not many join my personal list. Even with a free ebook i'm offering. Are there better things to offer for free?

Solo ads are a great way to build a list... although, here are my two tips...
    1. Give away a quality product
    - If the product you give away is very low quality, your subscriber will likely unsubscribe right after he/she has downloaded your free gift. Also, giving away a high quality product will set the bar for things to come.
    2. Watch out for solo ad scams
    - Some solo ad providers will get you the clicks they guarantee, but these clicks are produced by sending a very general email to their list, just so they can get those clicks that they guarantee. Sometimes the email swipe will be nothing about what you are offering, so when you do receive the clicks, they are from blind customers who most likely aren't interested in your product.

Solo ads are good. Advertise on Adwords also. Then find blogs and high traffic websites that you can advertise on. With Adwords content/display network, you can virtually do the same thing and mimic advertising on niche high traffic website (who have adsense on their site), and start getting targeted clicks for cheap.

The answer to your question really depends on what purpose your list will serve... how you will be monetizing it?

For example, if you want a list of folks who buy products, because you'll be marketing your own products or affiliate offers to them, then you might be disappointed with most Solo Ads, as your percentage of buyers will most likely be rather low. There are ways of targeting traffic that focuses on buyers - Solo Ads are not the best for this!

Maybe it's just me but I just can't wrap my head around the idea that anyone with a quality list would rent it out for solo ads. Mediocre or crappy lists maybe, but a good list? Personally it seems like nothing more than an IM Incest-Fest with the type of leads you'll gather. While it is better than nothing, I'm always searching for leads that are not being bombarded by every marketer on the planet.

That said, I've never rented out my list for such a thing or even participated by buying a solo ad. I'd love it if someone could educate me as to why my opinion is inaccurate and maybe even a bit foolish. Am I really missing out by not participating in solo ads?

I would love to educate you on this matter but .. you are 100% right.

Most Solo ad list are built just for that purpose. The members are given an endless supply of free gifts. Trained to click. The disturbing trend now seems to be building list, from solo ads, to .. you guessed it.. be a solo ad list.

If your list is not growing super fast, it probably is a good sign. It´s better to add 5 quality leads to your list every day than 30 freebie seekers.

Why don´t you create 1 or 2 products a week, market them in the WSO section and collect sales as well as the buyers email addresses? That´s the best way to generate a quality list FAST, besides from PPC.

In order for this strategy to work, you have to have a great product. Even if your instant profits are marginal, you will make significant from your buyers list in the long term.

If you can work full each day, it shouldn´t take you longer than 2 days to come up with a great plan, product and sales page.

The supplier will depending on your particular niche or product, take a look at safe swaps, I have had good results with a few suppliers on there, you can read information about their lists, with feedback and reviews from the people who have used them. My top recommendation at the moment would probably be Chris Ronson, my sub rate was nearly 46 percent which was pretty impressive, however only 1 taker for the SLO, however that was enough to pay for the ad.

The other good place to look for suppliers would be Reed Floren's directory over at soloaddirectory.com but make sure you read through the reviews carefully before buying anything.

    Hope that helps.

I've used a few solo ad services and have averaged new leads in the $1 to $2 range. I've also purchased a bunch of crap solo ads that didn't get any leads. You have to experiment with a bunch of different list owners until you can find a quality list that produces good results for you.
