Need advice selling @ flippa

Hello folks,

Sorry for making so much threads about flippa lately. Anyhow, I feel that I have lack of flippa experience.

I was selling a clickbank affiliate site which had great traffic and nice rankings (not spammy backlinks at all - articles, high pr homepage links etc..)

The revenue stats were:
Month1: $135
Month2: $210
Month3: $320
This month: Over $370 already (1sep - 11 sep), so this site might hit over $1000 this month...

So I put on flippa with BUY NOW $3200 and bid starting with $1. The reserve price I put was $2400.. However, the auction ended unsucessfully at $2100.

I was thinking that below $3000 is extremely low price for that site isn't it? Should I wait till the end of the month and re-list it again with better revenue stats?

I think with "noreserve" price the listing would get a lot of bidders and I would get some decent money from that site, but I think that I don't have balls to do that.

So what would you do next time when you re-list that kind of site? How would you manage the auction (which prices, what reserve etc)... Actually I don't want to sell this site at all, but I need capital for my bigger projects.

Thanks

"might hit over $1000 this month..." . Might is not "will" and that's what buyers are looking for.

I think you did well to get the price up to $2100 with only 3 months of revenue stats.

You need to comapare it to an offline biz. Would you offer a good price for a shop that can only provide 3 months record of revenue?

You'll only ever get what the buyer thinks the deal is worth.

For the next time you auction on Flippa, I can't say, that's not my area of expertise.

I would agree with the two.
Getting a bid of $2100 is already good.
Just take in to account that the competition is so high.
You can demand with the price if you site really deserve the price you desire.

the key of selling on flippa is negotiation. After you approve each bidder, go send them a message, engage them in conversation. For example they put $1500, send pm and ask "thanks for your offer, i can add BIN bonus like bla bla bla, and also i can lower the bin to $3000, so you don't need to worry that someone else will overbid your offer."
This is a good strategy to close your auction (high price and usually before the auction ends)

    Hi M,

If the site is on track for $1000 this month, does selling it for $2-3,000 make sense?

Sounds like a keeper, doesn't it.

Unfortunately, bidders won't always bid at prices that you feel are fair. There's a chance they don't think it's fair, and of course everyone likes to score a good deal.

Your sites seems fairly new. This will put some buyers off, no doubt. You may have to settle for what you can get if you need that money, or hold onto it until you can get the price you really want.

Well, if your site got a bid of $2100 on Flippa, that tells me it will bring more if you try to sell it privately through a legitimate broker. I wouldn't even bother with Flippa in your case. Everyone bids cheap, far behind the actual value of a site. It's worth double or more what you set your reserve price at. Don't settle for peanuts on Flippa. That's my advice.

Case in point: I had a site earn $800+ in 20 days. Tried to sell it on Flippa for a quick sale. Nada. Sold it privately through a broker and made $2800 net. Yours has more proof than mine did that it will be a steady earner, so it should pull more. I was just looking for a quick sale and happy with what I made.

Thanks for your reply. Can you point out some brokers?

Why would you want to sell it for $3000 if it's making $1000 a month? Keep it up, expand and after 6 months - 1 year you could easily get around $10,000-$15,000 for it

The thing is, I need that money asap. Of course, I don't want to sell this site, but that's the reality right now. I have so many great ideas on my head and I need some $$$ before I can start.
Does anyone some brokers who accept these kind of sites?

It's been my experience that most brokers go after more established sites that are making over $2000/mo and have been for a long time. Their clients have to trust them and tend to give them repeat business if they're happy with their investments, so they have to make sure whatever their clients are purchasing will actually be profitable.

    Hey Mandos,
I am very surprised that your site did not sell for your reserve on Flippa! Especially with sales figures like that, I would appraise it at a lot more! Whether the site is established or not, the fact remains that it is converting sales at a high rate!
To be honest, If i were you, I would hold onto it, especially if they aren't meeting such a reasonable reserve price. May I ask why you are trying to sell it, do you need the cash now? In the long run you would be better off keeping your creation, soon you could be making hundreads daily, it's a good feeling!

i have easily sold site 10x the monthly earning after three month of consistent earning. please am not recommending anything but simply take a look at this person profile on flippa. https://flippa.com/users/499829

You will notice he sold most of his site at a reasonable amount after 3month of consistent earning. another good key to selling the site at a very high price is your description(sales letter). i think you should wait to relist it at a very good amount of money. thats my 1cent

If a site makes $400 a month then makes little sense selling for less than 8-10k provided you are sure the traffic is sustainable.
