Is this domain name infriging a Trademark?

I just known that "Ultrabook" is one of Intel's trademark. And A few month ago I bought a domain name "ultrabook-s.com" and did not use is yet.
Is this domain infriging Intel's trademark? Any advice?

Depends in part what you do with it. If what you put on your site is in no way related to Intels Ultrabook range and you do not have adsense which takes Ultrabook or its competitors then you MAY be okay. A lot depends on how strict Intel are at cracking down on possible infringements

You pretty much answered your own question. You acknowledge that ultrabook is Intel's trademark. So yes, it is trademark infringement.

Hi, you again. Thank you for your quick respons. So, what's your advice except let this domain in my GoDaddy account until it's expired?

My advice is to not use the domain ... to let it expire and to not buy trademark domains in the future to avoid trademark hassles.

  • Hmmm....I've done this a couple of times as well. Rainx.org and honeywellthermostats.org. Anybody ever have any luck selling the domains to the company?
Also, is a .org worth using any more?
I'm still trying to get a handle on where to start. It's just an overload of all the different ideas on how to go about getting an online business going.
    Thanks,
    David

There are people who've received "cease and desist" notices from companies whose trademarks they've infringed on who have replied apologizing and offering to surrender the domain-name to them in exchange for reg-fee and have been surprised that they've actually got their $10 (or whatever) back, so the answer's "yes". I've seen this reported in two or three threads here, over the years, anyway.

I think it's probably unusual, but evidently it can happen. Some companies are willing to pay $10 or so for something they could probably take from you without any payment at all (maybe just because it saves a lot of work and time?).

      • Ok thanks. I've been reading other threads about this and guess I'm SOL.
Bummer. I've been finding lots of trade named domain names with good search volume and low competition.
        Guess I know why now!!

Summer of love? Statute of limitations??

If you were intending to register domains with other people's trademarks intending to re-sell them to the trademark owners at a profit, I'd venture to suggest that you may be summer of love, yes. Or at least "winter of discontent".

Yes indeed ... and that's why they're available, I think: they have value only to the trademark owner. Not to anyone else. I'm no lawyer, but I think in some countries attempting to do that may even be an offense of some kind under the criminal laws.

For anyone not familiar with the expression, "SOL" is short for "S**t Out of Luck".

Closely related to the military term FUBAR (F**ked Up Beyond All Recognition).

The OP might get away with using the domain to sell the ultra-long books like the latest 1,000 page plus efforts from the likes of Tom Clancy or Stephen King, but the best idea is to just forget he has it and let it go...
