What Is Your Best Strategy To Building A Fresh List?

So I know this has been asked a thousand times but maybe we can start to get some new and fresh ideas flowing about how we can approach building a new list rather than market to an already established or growing list.

I believe times are changing and the way we need to market to our subscribers is changing as well.

My question is when you decide to create a new email campaign in a new niche or target market, how do you approach this?

Do you use free products? Small fee memberships?

Also, do you instinctively head for solo ads, or do you try testing with an initial launch into the different social media platforms?

All the best,

Johnny

i already have a list and a good readership on my blog so if i wanted to build a new list i would be able to do it quite easily and get the ball rolling pretty quickly by not paying for any traffic

however, if i was starting out with no list and no blog i would use ppc and solo ads

at the same time i would build free traffic such as videos and articles

i would also create a blog so that i can use that to presell people before joining my list

that`s it, simple but it does work

Normally I offer a free product with an OTO right after.
The main reason for the OTO is not to make money
but to get some money back after I buy solo ads.

  • For building your list, you can use this technique who works pretty well.

Launch a WSO giving away an original product for free, and ask them after purchase to join your list before accessing download.
If you instead want a list of buyers, ask $1 for your product to have a list of people with credit card.
    This works very well.

Another good technique is to do ad exchanges or launching paid solo ads.
Ad Swaps are free and can be done when you have at least 500/1000 responsive subscribers.
Solo ads are always paid, but giving away a free product can give you the possibility to rake in a lot of subscribers.

Offering a valuable product for free is always a good technique. People love freebies. Another thing you can do is to offer some discount on products for subscribers. This one also works well.

I'm a firm believer in giving value first.

I would most likely use a combination of a blog, webinars, and videos to build my list. I would most likely use some sort of video content to incentivize the opt in process.

I always recommend offering a free product give-a-way. Then try to monetize it by offering a related OTO. I use mostly solo ads for most of my traffic & it usually works out well!

Also – I believe in treating your list right by offering quality content, advice & tips before trying to sell them anything!

I tend to always lean towards Solo Ads.
    It's targeted towards your niche.

Here's my quick formula. Blog daily. Turn the blog into an article. Use the article for a script for a video. Use social bookmarking to get my posts in front of people fast. I use onlywire.com.

This simple formula generates traffic and builds my list.

For faster results I use ppc and solo ad buys. If you have the money it is the fastest way to scale your business.

Tech has changed but marketing remains the Same. Offer awesome value on a consistent basis = success

Great tip, as you only really need to focus on, is creating just one high value content, which you can leverage, another suggestion would be to convert that into a pdf for to be used lead generator for opt in forms, or distributed to pdf directories

Just be warned: Onlywire.com gets pretty expensive fast. You have to choose a Captcha solving fee too.

The core of my business involves 2 "old" but proven strategies...

    Ad swaps and solo ads...

This was how I started and this is still the main strategy behind my list building.

The key when buying traffic is to create a sales funnel that will allow you to break even (or better) on your paid traffic. Once you are able to create a break even funnel you can then scale up and buy as much traffic as you can afford as you are then essentially building your list for free...

Here is a coaching session replay about the subject I did a few weeks ago...

    Hope this helps

    Cheers,
    Coby

I would recommend making your own product, and then offer it to affiliates to promote for 100% commission. The 100% commission will attract affiliates. Once you have affiliates promoting your product, split test and get your EPC really juicy to attract even more affiliates. You, personally, won't make any money, but you will build a list. The only work you have to do is making the product, and contacting a few affiliates in the beginning.

If that doesn't work for you, solo ads and WSO's are always good options. Give away something free to make people opt in. Also, I would recommend giving away an email course for your free product. This kind of smooths things over when you ask your customer for their email address. That way, the customer doesn't think you are just after their email address.

Solo ads when available (check the DOE for niches other than IM) are certainly the easiest and most targeted way to build a list fast.

Other strategies include getting videos ranked for keywords in your niche (much easier than getting a web page ranked), and if it's a major niche, running a ppv campaign for keywords or popular domains works well too.

I would go with trying to sell stuff, personally. Even if it was only a $.99 or really cheap product.

At least that way you know you have people willing to buy on your list.

I would recommend giving away a free product. For this free product I would recommend an Email Course. This gets your subscribers used to opening up and actually reading your emails. Send them a high quality email course that gets them reading your emails. In order to get people to sign up, I would recommend solo ads or a WSO.

There is no right or wrong answer here; build your list whatever way they want as long as you know you're adding responsive buyers to your list.

Offer a service to encourage opt-ins, as opposed to just offering a report or ebook.

For example, offer a free SEO consultation to each new opt in. You can then upsell them immediately to a paid service.

Of course you can't do this all the time because it's time-consuming, but you can also build a list very quickly as people will climb over each other to get a free, value-added service.

I also like to encourage new list members to share the list. Basically, if they can bring me a few new subscribers then I will give them a free product or service.

If I had to build my list from scratch I'd also take the product creation route. Most likely a WSO at a low price.

I know it has already been said here, but Solo Ads has got to be one of the easiest and most profitable forms of building a list out there. You just have to make sure you have a great offer to entice them to join your list.
