Using link redirect to affiliate?

Does anybody else do that and how effective is that instead of building a website to post affiliate links?

IMO never put your affiliate links in a service you don't have 100% control over. You are asking for them to be redirected to the service's own affiliate link or to be sent to a spam waring page.

Yes - large numbers of people do. That's a major part of why the failure-rate is so very high, in affiliate marketing. Those are the people "making up the statistics".

Typically, it's almost not effective at all.

But for affiliate marketing, the most important purpose of having your own website isn't just to post your affiliate links on it (though what Mark says just above is also completely correct, of course): it's to build your lists.

This post may help you, I think. It's kind of "the three bare essentials of affiliate marketing": http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6737670 (it mentions "ClickBank products" just because of the context of its thread: you can read that as "affiliate products").

Without having your own site (even if it's a 1-page/2-page site) and building lists, you're chasing about 10% of what you might earn, at the expense of the other 90%.

Take a look through all the threads here in which Warriors are asked "What's the main thing you'd do differently if you were starting again tomorrow?" (there are about 100 of those threads - it's a popular question!). You'll see that almost all the experienced, successful, affiliate marketing Warriors are giving as their answer "Have my own site and build a list from day 1". That's because we all know we didn't make any money worth talking about until we did that.

So I kinda want to get into more detail. I can make websites no problem, what's really new to me is affiliate marketing and building lists. So do I need to build a landing page that has an option for users to put in there email so that I can later email everyone about clickbank products?

When I first started affiliate marketing back at high school, I used this exact method. I registered a domain name related to Xbox 360 repair products, and then drove traffic to a redirect affiliate offer.

This made me about $30,000 over the course of 3 years. Not bad money for a school student.

        Would I do it again?

        HELL NO

When I think about all the leads I could have gained, and all the site authority I could have built, I feel like kicking myself in the teeth!

Listen to Alexa here, she knows the deal.

I wish I could say the same. Well, I could say it, but nobody here who knows me would believe me. And they'd be right.

Well, there's plenty here about both, certainly. You won't be short of reading, anyway.

Yes, exactly. Just an "opt-in box" (you get the code for this from GetResponse or Aweber or whichever autoresponder company you want to use - though either of those two would be good - and put it on your page, typically offering people something like a "free report" (small PDF) on the subject, in exchange for their email address, and then in the first/second email you send them, you enclose the download link for the PDF.)

I don't mean to be a bother, but is there anyway I could speak with you privately? I don't mean to intrude in your schedule, but I'm very interested and motivated to learn more and as much as I can. I can't pm otherwise I'd go that route.

With apologies, I don't do any "teaching" or anything like this at all. I'm not in any "IM advice" or "Make Money Online" niches at all, am selling/promoting nothing here, and have no "blog" or "list" to offer you. I just reply to forum posts as and when I can.

I think the most effective is to build your own website and put your affiliate links on there. Another plus is you have more control over your affiliate links.
