Why I put your WSO/Email in my spam box

I have purchased a lot of WSOs.

As a part of the transaction I was asked to sign up with my email address for notifications of upgrades "and other offers"... So I dutifully sign up to Aweber Get Response, MailChimp or some other autoresponder.

... And what has happened is I am now on someone's marketing "money is in the list".

Needless to say, upgrade notifications are few and far between.
The email broadcasts are mostly affiliate offers from other WSOs, clickbank, JV zoo.

It's rather aggravating to wake up and find your email flooded with the same offer -- which is usually marketers just c&p the same marketing blurb, often including the exact same subject line -- and sometimes the exact same email from the same person 2 or more times. I have one pair of marketers I get the same broadcast six times from!

Occasionally it's the Marketer's own product/new release, but that's pretty rare.

I'm tired of my email being "spammed" with the same email or message or product and almost never getting notice of upgrades.

In the end I decided I had to do something about it that involves not unsubscribing, I still want to receive notifications of upgrades etc.
I use Gmail as my email system and it offers a semi-intelligent spam box -- much different when I used Outlook or Outlook Express.

Now I have been going through and putting all those emails in my spam box. Duplicated emails, WSO affiliate or clickbank emails are first to go to spam.

Gmail is pretty smart and asks me if I'd like to unsubscribe. I reject that offer as I want to be notified about upgrades.

I just want to clear the crap from my inbox.

The good thing for me is, after doing it once or twice they automatically are placed there. And the more people that do it, soon Gmail puts it into spam automatically -- for everyone.

(On the other hand, I have some newsletters I do want that have suddenly appeared in my spam box and I Unspam them -- I'm assuming because the newsletter reached a critical mass where Gmail automatically does it across the board.)

Once in a blue moon, I actually get notification of an upgrade! When an upgrade notification occurs, or something unique that has been released by that marketerer I unspam the email and return it to the inbox. Ironically, those are already back in the spam box with another "special" WSO duplicate affiliate or clickbank offers.

...and I'm going to keep doing this with any more "offers" that arrive from all the current and any other lists I sign up to.

To stop this I would ask marketers / Warriors to consider an alternative method of list building.

Firstly: DO get people to sign up for upgrades for the product you have sold them -- but keep it strictly related to that product only.

Secondly. Immediately after the confirmation send a second email asking if they would sign up for special offers -- .i.e. a specific marketing list. Give them an Irresistible Offer to do so, or special notice of other WSOs -- but keep the marketing to one list, not every list you have. (and if you intend to promote other people’s products as an affiliate aren't you supposed to mention having a financial interest?)

I don't expect to get too much thanks as a result of this. I'm sure most marketers will say, "but you willingly signed up for my emails."

My answer is Yes ...and no. I DID willingly signed up for the email so I could receive notification of upgrades on the product I purchased -- which in many cases has never occurred. I simply don't want to receive dozens of affiliate and duplicated emails filling my email.

If someone has an idea on how I can clear my email inbox of marketing junk email AND be advised of upgrades to products Ive purchased, pleae share.

By putting these emails in spam, you are potentially hurting the marketers reputation with his auto-responder provider.

The right way to go about it is to create a folder and name it WSO'S and filter all of these emails to that folder.
I was about to suggest the same thing.

      Great recommendation Joseph.

When you put all of these marketers emails in the spam folder (though, some belong there ) you run the chance of said marketer losing their account, depending on their autoresponder service.
