Do you use a script or "freestyle" when hosting webinars?

Depends on the purpose of the webinar...

Training webinars where I'm not selling, I'll freestyle...

Pitch webinars where my goal is to sell, I'll script (with the occasional freestyle)

Ok, what if it's for a membership course?

I'd follow Dan's advice... Have bullets and Items that you know you want to discuss. Free style around those items.

I never start a webinar without at least some sort of plan. I'll always have at least bullets and talking points. I just can't follow a script for an entire webinar. It would bore the hell out of people.

Always helps to have some kind of an outline with your webinar. My belief is that if people are taking the time to join the call then I want to make sure I give it my very best.

So my technique is to put a bunch of points in the note section on my power point slides.

I would advise against using a full script as that can sound really nauseating if not done right!

My vote is for a point form outline

    Good luck!

I second this plan of action. You should also rehearse it a bunch of times before you actually do it. That way it will sound more natural and you'll be better prepared.

        Rehearsing is definitely essential.

I had an online interview a few months back and rehearsed it for a few days. When it came to game time it was a breeze and felt natural. I had my bullet points and was relaxed the whole time.

I'm new to webinars but I would think practice would make it a heck of a lot easier!

Makes sense. Will take your words into consideration.

I'm not for scripting anything but I suppose that a few notes wouldn't hurt.

            Thanks!

I use bullet points on the keynote and ad lib around them. As i am using GTW on a mac i cant see the next point or slide so i send a pdf version to my ipad and use that as a prompt ahead of each slide.
