Accepting Online Payments... Alternatives - NOTHING works!

I'm trying to accept Credit Card payments on my online store, the only option to do that is with Paypal Advanced but its confusing as heck to use that, you need to be an advanced programmer/developer to even use that.

I can't use Paypal regular business because they make the checkout process so difficult, hiding the "credit card" option behind the paypal login (which destroys my conversion rate)

So I tried WePay, which is amazing, simple embeding the code, however they don't allow for the most basic things such as customizing the button and most importantly REDIRECTING the user to a page after payment.

Does anyone have any simple and easy to use payment processors?

if you're using Wordpress or a similar CRM, download their plugin for it.

If you're using standalone, the API is one of the best I've seen. At the very least they have examples you can build on.

Either way, Stripe.com beats the crap out of PayPal, et al. The only thing better is a full MID, gateway and merchant account.

If I use the wordpress plugin, do I still need to code at all?

Unless you consider shortcode "code", no.

Took a look at it, just not for me. The wordpress plugin doesn't have any customization to it at all...

That's funny, because I customized the hell out of several sites using simple CSS. Different strokes

I just implemented Paypal Advanced on a Woo Commerce theme with the Woo Commerce plugin and the Paypal Advanced extension. Took all of 5 minutes to get it all working. That Paypal Advanced extension does all the integrating for you. Of course this is a Wordpress only solution, but I love Woo Commerce.

I've always used Paypal with no problems. However, I've also heard that paymate is a good product, but don't know much about it.

It set the max price to only x.xx. One digit price for payment?!

The page is not customizable either?

There's no max price once you activate your account, feel free to check out all the features and run as many test transactions as you like in the meantime.

Checkout pages on activated accounts are automatically customized to match your website for increased conversions. There's samples and a video on the merchee home page- to the left of "more sales conversions".

(sorry, I'm new here and I don't want to come off as SPAM and post direct links to the video, etc)

You might want to fix the graphic on your home page. It says, "4.5% + .45¢" instead of 45¢.

Yes, I am looking for a payment acceptance solution. Everything I have found is too expensive.

Why do you say that? If you find a place charging just .45, *****RUN*****! SOMETHING is wrong. Credit card companies want a piece of the pie, so they charge a percentage "discount". If the discount is 2%, and you sell an item for $100, the customer pays $100, you get $98, and the CC company gets $2. Companies like colins charge a bit higher discount.

PAYPAL IS easy, and CAN accept credit card numbers from the first page. I looked at about 70 processors(merchee wasn't one of them though. The last time I SERIOUSLY looked at them and compared was about 5-6 years ago. A couple of them even went bankrupt already!), and paypal was probably the best from a legal standing, longevity, easy of use, and flexibility. In fact, I think it was best in EVERY area, though at least one had more longevity, but you DID have to program to use THAT one. I WANTED to provide a lot of features, and create a standard driver set. GUESS WHAT! MOST were simple pay one payment NOW! A FEW had some subscription capability. THEN there was paypal. Easy to use, but most flexible. THEN there were the ones you had to be a programmer. You could do the fancy stuff, but you had to program it YOURSELF!

THAT is why they have survived even though so many hate some things they have done.

why not just check into getting a programmer from odesk or similar site to help you with the initial integration if the PP code is giving you trouble. If you are pleased with PP but just find the setup a little confusing thats the easier problem to solve rather than finding a new merchant account.

How much does it usually run to get it set up though? I cant afford 300+ on a project like this. I have no idea how big of a project that entails.

that will depend on what systems power your online store and what the full integration process will entail.

you can open a project at a site like odesk or guru and get bids on it. I have had my accounts for a long time, but i dont think they charge much if any to list a project and see where the bids come in at.

What type of a back-end system are you running? Opencart, Megento, WordPress? Or do you have a "hosted" solution like shopify?

If you're using one of the main stream ones there's a good chance theirs a way to integrate a new payment gateway/API.

This typically involves installing a new module or plugin and entering in the information that payment processor tells you to.

Looks like Stripe keep the transaction fees from the original purchase if a refund is made and they don't accept payment via PayPal.

    Shame.

any real merchant does this. The only ones that don't are those that either a) make refunds (fraudulent or otherwise) exceedingly easy and b) will put the hammer down on your account with the quickness if it begins to fall outside their parameters.

Besides, if you're worrying that much about refunds, it'd probably be a good idea to address that issue by minimizing it. I personally use Stripe on all of my ecommerce sites and it's been a fantastic improvement over PayPal's BS, and even over traditional merchant accounts which can hefty fees and sizable balance requirements.

If you are using WordPress there are plenty of plugins out there like s2member and stuff like that. It's super easy to setup and totally customizable. It doesn't have to be used just for member sites. I use it on a ton of different sites.

    Just my .02 cents:

I looked into a few payment offerings before begrudgingly settling for Paypal Pro. Soon after I saw how easy it really was to integrate and the people (most of which I deal with one-on-one) seem comforted by the fact that we use a company that's been around a long, long time (internet time-wise). I bring an iPad to our meetings and shows and we just sit people down and they sign up, with or without and existing account. Plus, the recurring payments handing works great for our product.
