The big dogs product launch times.

Just an interesting observation...

For the several years that I have been doing business online,
It has come to my attention that the big players in the game
Tend to launch their big products at certain times through the year.
I noticed a pattern, and almost all of them launch around the
Same time of year...not sure if I am allowed to give examples.

1-Usually at the end of summer (before the holidays hit)
2- Mid or late spring (after the holidays)

Now, I'm not suggesting that these are the only times people launch,
Or are they good/bad times, is just something I noticed.Simple observation.
It also makes sense launching either before or after the holidays.

Would love to hear what you think?

Do you think launch dates matter?

I would imagine if you're doing a big launch you wouldn't want to do it during the holidays that involve money being spent, so I'm sure that would be a reason avoid those times.

I can understand why. After summer (or before the holidays) may be a good time because they know that during that period, people are in the mindset of making more money so they can afford to do something great for the holidays i.e. vacations, buy presents, etc. After the holidays, probably because people have spent a lot of their money on the holidays already, they might be in the mindset of making more money again so they can recover their money.

There most likely are other factors, but these are what I believe may be one of the main explanations

No I don't think launch dates matter.

I think you could do a launch any time of the year if you have the right preselling sequences, building up anticipation, excitement, desire, etc.

    I could be wrong.

Maybe some of them have split tested it and their numbers show that is the best time to do a launch.

it could also have nothing to do with that at all. It could be that they want to get their launches done in mid spring so they have an open summer for seminar season. And also having a launch in mid spring could then give them something to talk about when they do go to those seminars.

Or maybe they schedule them in the spring time for 2 reasons. 1) So they have a light schedule in the summer time so they can enjoy the summer or go on vacation in the summer and/or 2) So they have more cash at summer time to enjoy summer or to go on a vacation.

The same could be said about doing a launch after summer. Maybe they want more money for christmas for gifts and such or to enjoy it more, or maybe that is when they go on holidays is at christmas time.

Having said all of that, I go back to my original point. No I don't think it matters. It's not as important as doing proper preselling before hand and building up that anticipation and excitement. That is more important than the date at which you launch.

True I also believe that the two main reasons would be:

      1- Higher traffic times
      2- Vacation Preparation

Like it or not, a lot of people can't manage funds so they run out of money and launch again. Others pick launch dates based on paying taxes and others based on funding new projects.

  • This got me thinking about WSO launch times. I have heard Tuesday or Wednesday are good days though i cant remember why.

Wouldn't launching a site now for the Christmas holidays be a bit late, so late that you will not rank well for this holiday ?

But i guess a real big dog wouldn't be bothered as they would have a way of buying advertising and/or highly targeted traffic. That, i think, is what separates me from them, its like they are farming bees while i wait for my honey in the supermarket.

Good observation, however typically most of the big boys talk behind the scenes to find out when others are launching and then try not to step on each others toes. Although, with more and more launches over the years it gets harder and harder to do that.

Some of the closer people try to launch in a sequence so that they will be able to bring more support for the next guy going.

The strongest force on the internet.. is not technology, the list, the traffic.. it's the relationships that create them. Basically, getting rich on the internet with launches is a team sport...

Very interesting indeed. It's in everyone's best interest to do that way.
