Clickbank affiliates that use landing pages?

I noticed on clickbank that an ad for example is $25, but when I go there page it says a free report and not selling the product? How exactly does that work?

Vendor's site offer free report to gain email subscribers. Then vendor offers the real product to the subscribers. If you're an affiliate, you will get the sale when the email subscriber (that visited your affiliate link in the first place) buys the product.

But the product I'm trying to sell says that he's giving it away free for signing up...

He already answered your question. let me try again..

you send the visitors through your affiliate link,
they are forced through the 'squeeze page',
then usually they are presented with a stop page thaty tells
them to go confirm their email
when they click to confirm their email they are taken to
the download page for the free offer and usually they
will try to upsell them into a paid version and often if
they click no to the upsell they'll be presented with a
downsell which is a paid version but with less bells and whistles.

a simple example - they offer a free book on how to do container gardening,
i'm into to that so i give em my name and email, i then go and click the link
in the confirmation email, and i'm taken to a thank you page where i can grab
my free download, but on the same page, they say:

wait, before you go... would you like to buy these 7 videos where we show
you how to select perfect fertilzer, how to pick the right planting pots, how
to setup a cheap irrigation system to water your plants with ease for under $10
bucks, as well as a quick rund down of common pests and diseases and how to
plan/overcome them, etc, plus we'll give you 10 email credits that allow you to contact us for one on one email support - for only $47?

and i say no $47 is too much right now, so they say, ok we realize that $47 might
be a bit much right now for you, so how about we give you all the videos, but take out the 10 one-on-one support emails, and you pay just $27 instead?

so that's how they tend to work.

but be careful with this method - some merchant only give you credit for 30, 60 or 90 days. professional companies will permanently link your affiliate id to their email, so no matter whenthey buy from the follow up emails, they will be forced through your affiliate link before they are allowed to purchase so you still get credit for years to come - this is how i usually setup my programs, and sometimes i go as far as making my sites by referral only - so nobody can join without a valid referral link, and everyone is forced to join under an existing member.

but most don't do this, and instead they just use a 30-90 day cookie that expires.

either way they set it up is fine though.

Hi Chilldy, I don't know what you mean by "ClickBank affiliates that use landing pages". All ClickBank affiliates use landing pages (unless they're direct-linking, but that's just silly, to put it bluntly). A "landing page" is simply the page on which your traffic "lands". It can be any type of page you want. I'm wondering whether you possibly meant to say "ClickBank vendors who use landing pages with an opt-in"? Please excuse me if I've totally missed the point, here. I'm not quite certain exactly what you're asking, but I think this will help you with it (and if you're going to be a ClickBank affiliate, this is stuff you need to know about anyway ), so I strongly advise you to read the entire thread linked to below slowly and carefully.

A "landing page" is simply the page of which you elect to have your traffic from any given source landing.

It doesn't need to contain an opt-in box at all, if you don't want it to. Let alone be a squeeze page.

A landing page can be (and often is) a sales page, it can be an article, it can be the home page of a blog or any other kind of site, it can be a squeeze page ... you get to decide what sort of page you use as your landing page.

I have landing pages on all of my sites, and I don't even use squeeze pages at all, so please don't tell me that a landing page and a squeeze page are "the same"!
