Advice Please - How to Sell Ads Locally

Hi all,

I'm hoping to get some direction/advice on the best way to approach selling ad space to local businesses... One of my sites is a local/regional area website with a decent amount of traffic (approx 200+ unique daily). I would like to incorporate local business ads but have no idea of how to start with pricing, approach, or method of contacting businesses...

Would it be best to call local businesses (need script) or contact them via email (more comfortable way to do it for me).

How do I price this? Impressions-based, flat fee, per-click?

I could really use a push in the right direction... I appreciate your input!

I used to be afraid to contact local businesses over the phone. Lots of rejections but that's part of the business. Persuade by telling them about how much traffic you get on the site. Tell them how many people from (town) visit this website.

Rip local google listings using a simple script and either email them or hire a cheap overseas call center to call them

    Hey Galt,
Do you use WordPress? There is actually a really neat plugin that can automate this for you! You can send potential customers to your website (also inevitably normal traffic can see, and might be interested too), and they will see an ad space where they can pay for an image ad to be shown there, which you can then approve, and then it goes live after the automated payment is received I can't quite remember what it was called, but you can search on wordpress for it. It may have been "AdRotate".
I hope this helps! All the best in your online income success!
