My top traffic source is Google organic comprising almost 77% of my total traffic.. The rest are from forums and blog comments.. None is paid traffic..?

That's pretty good, but I am surprised Social Media isn't high on your list. I would generally say that if people know how to take advantage of Social Media on their blogs etc you can generate puddles of traffic from things as simple as facebook and twitter.

7) host/parasite relationship - bad expression i know: In essence you become the quality service provider/product of use for a high traffic guru and they recommend you as the go to person for that service/product- often they will do this without any financial reward. (this was huge for me)

  The affiliate comment meant that you create your own products and then encourage affiliates to promote it for you by offering high commissions.
  
  You could offer 100% commissions at the front end to entice them to promote your product thus you are building your list and getting all that lovely affiliate traffic.

Affiliate marketing is a great way when you have your own product,

I also use solo ads best place i go for that is here in the classified ad section or Reed Floren's Solo Ad Directory.

I was just thinking of doing a solo ad, so thanks for the link.

Another coincidence, to me, article marketing is dead - becase I hate doing it! I was wondering if it's as popular today as it was a few years ago. Glad it still works for those who can be bothered.

If you've got the right products or content then high profile, heavy traffic blogs are all you need, and there are plenty of them about. I can get anything from 2-10 million views a month, resulting in hundreds of thousands of hits returned from my website links and thousands of sales.

The only other sources I would even consider beneficial in terms of great traffic are Facebook and YouTube. Forum signature links also bring in a small amount.

Content creation aka blogging is def my top way of getting traffic

. You just need a system and know what type of content to create. I just focus on 2 main types of posts... Viral and long tail posts.

Viral posts can give you short bursts of massive traffic. In my experience, there are 2 ways to write a viral post.

The first one are top 10 lists, people love lists! Create a list in your niche (eg. top 10 ways to stop smoking…), add a nice picture and publish it! Simple as that!

The second one are memes… yep, those images with funny sayings or catch phrases on them, they work beautifully, just find some quotes on your niche topic, find an image and combine the two (you can use GIMP for this).

The most important thing to do after you’ve written any viral post is to publish it on social networks, the most important one being stumbleupon <= can bring you a lot of traffic mere hours after you publish the post!

Long tail posts are handy for some consistent traffic... it's not a lot but as you create more content, you get more traffic!

People are skeptic before they even try to increase their page rank, they are too lazy to build back-link and .edu. The best traffic magnet is by standing on top of Google page rank. At least in 3 or 2 Page rank is already good enough.

Google is unpredictable, but when you are at the top you can enjoy good traffic without work.

Social media stuff that goes viral

PPC as its fast and get your instant results. If you can test and tweak and have the patience and heart to do it. It's a very good way to make quick money.

Youtube is the another one I love.

Guest blogging and Article submissions (unique) provide contextual backlink which works wonders for SEO. I also enjoy Yahoo answers for traffic since it ranks high and there are a lot of users looking for information.

Hey,
I know PPC traffic is a very good form of traffic. However, because I am a novice IM'er I have lost a lot of money in the past doing PPC. I have recently found a resource that makes getting PPC traffic very easy and it is very good traffic... although they are not cheap. I guess you get what you pay for. I best not put the link here but if you search for cpcbroker in google you will find it. They basiclly do the whole campaign for you and send the traffic to your website. Like I say... I am new to IM and have always been scared of doing PPC but cpcbroker really helps

For my sites, top 3 traffic sources are as follows -
1. Google
2. Facebook
3. Yahoo Answers

I get enough traffic from these sources and most importantly these are all free traffic.

Wow there are so many different ways to drive traffic to the website. Most of the methods are proven to work for many marketers and I think the more practical approach is to focus on mastering one method at a time.

I love to have one free method and one paid method of traffic generation methods in my marketing campaign.

SEO has always been my main way of getting traffic. Though I did recently just get a huge jump in traffic with some PPV stuff, didn't see much of a return so I dropped it (but only for now, not enough time to focus on it)

Yes, very much so; use the search feature, go to "advanced" option and do a keyword search of "article marketing" and "article syndication" on the main discussion forum and you'll find enough threads to keep you busy for weeks.

Bear in mind that submitting articles to article directories is a very small part of what article marketing is (probably like 1 or 2%, no, not kidding either). Think of putting your content into different formats such as podcasts, PDF documents, videos, etc. and not just the written word. Also think of different platforms you can use. Think of Kindle, Nook, using Createspace, etc.

You are only limited by your imagination.
